We hope you take some time to enjoy these new units, and keep helping us playtest as we get more releases ready. We've got Demons and Cultists and Lovecraft stuff coming, as well as more historical units, fantasy mainstays, and creepy crawlies. We're coming up on 10 years of C3V, and we hope to keep going for many more years (and your playtesting helps!).

I love these all, but I'm especially proud of the Honor Guard here. Give them a try, they're a blast (pun intended).

Great work as always! The mantis look especially fun to play. I'm also curious what planets the mantis and Honor Guard are from...

Looks like fun!

Clawfoot interceptor seems like he could make a decent filler even in an army without synergies. 5 attack and flying is a really solid offensive for a 50-point hero, and 4 life 3 defense means he's not going to be super easy to kill either. Claw Grab is just an extra bonus.

The blade dancers don't impress me as much. 40 points for a 1 life 4 defense melee figure just feels like a lot, particularly because their offensive output isn't really any better than other comparable melee squads. I could see them being really annoying with good stealth armor rolls, though.

The Honor Guard are probably my favorite. Their abilities look like they'll yield lots of interesting positioning decisions, and a squad getting to attack with auto skulls seems quite strong. I don't really like the Kozuke Samurai style wording on "Protective Repositioning", though. I always thought it would be a lot less confusing to say "must move adjacent to..." instead of "must be able to move adjacent to...". I'm sure this was already debated, though :P

There's really no good way to say it. "Must move adjacent" doesn't work, because it's conditioning the movement on something that may fail to happen. For example, a Guard may die from a leaving engagement attack while moving with Protective Repositioning, and thus fails to move adjacent to a friendly, and thus cannot have used Protective Repositioning, and thus would not have died in the first place... The Charging Assault wording is really awful, but it has an official FAQ rulings describing what it actually means. By using the same wording, we get the advantage of coverage from the same rulings, as opposed to writing out a long, complex power to handle all the cases.

Honor Guard are really cool. I've always loved adjacent-positioning powers as they add strategy while also kinda helping to reduce the board control most squads offer since they can spread out.

Clawfoot Interceptor seems pretty strong for a good cheap pricetag. Unless I'm reading it wrong, Dive Bomb's gonna give him 5 Attack almost all the time—the power name had me thinking it'd involve moving and attacking from higher ground but that might be considered too Customy:
Quote:
SWOOP ATTACK 3
When attacking an adjacent figure that Drevelec was not adjacent to at the start of this turn, roll 3 additional attack dice. You may only use Swoop Attack when attacking a figure on a level lower than the level Drevelec began its turn on.
The basic side card says they're from Marr, which makes the picture of them fighting Vipers pretty clever

Yes, the Clawfoot can use its Dive Bomb whenever, basically. The catch is that if it starts engaged, it must leave engagement to use its flying special power, even if it doesn't move away. So if you want to risk the LEA, it's absolutely possible to get 5 attack any turn.

Throw in Rannveig, though....

Kinda wish Dive Bomb said non-flying. Still need to find someone locally to split a pack with, though, when games can start up again...

Honor Guard look like fun to play. Look like they'll be my style.
