FFC #36 - The Cover for End Come

TGRF's Fan Fiction Chronicles - Entry #36

The first installment in my infinite series (Eternity) is currently being written. I'm aiming for a Halloween release, but there are a few things happening this month which will suck my time away, so it might be a bit after Halloween. We'll see.

This first installment, End Come, is looking to be quite short. I've already talked about what I'm working on for it in terms of writing here, so I won't go into that again.

As far as the writing schedule goes, I'm planning on finishing up the writing within the next few days, and then sending it to Bigga. Proofreading usually takes a few days. After that, depending on what Bigga says, I might want to rewrite it. It's going to be short enough that I can. If that happens, it might get released after Halloween. If not, then before.

I'll keep you updated!

Neato. I can't recall if I've ever asked how you make those covers of yours. They're always so nice looking.

@TheAverageFan It used to be I'd just grab an image off the internet and mess with it a bit in Photoshop, throw it against a black 8.5 x 11 page, and throw in some text. I experimented with Photoshop effects for Red, and actually got an artist from HSers to do the cover for Ragnak (I can barely digitally draw a stick figure).

The more recent covers have been 3D experiments. I'm not even an intermediate user of 3D, but I know enough about Blender to eventually produce something close to what I want. The covers for ACoS, HiS, and End Come have all used Blender, and steadily progressing methods for rendering images. I create the needed object (in this case a window, wall, and light source to get the desired light), set up the camera, render the picture, plop it in Photoshop, blend the edges in, and add the text. Materials and Textures are where things fall apart. So far, I haven't used them in covers aside from basic color materials. Eventually I would like to start texturing things and make them look rougher.

I've put the writing on hold briefly while I work a bit more with the characters. I'm trying to get a better sense for who each character is (something I've wanted to improve on for awhile). It shouldn't take more than a few days. After that, I found some transition holes in the outline which I need to plug, then I can start writing.
