C3V Wave 20 – Pack 3

DISCLAIMER: This is not official. This is a fan made custom project.

C3V Public Announcements Thread
This is where you can go to get started with C3V (Classic Customs Creators of Valhalla).
This thread lists all the units C3V has released: C3V Books of Index.

C3V brings you Wave CV7, otherwise known as:

WAVE 20!!!

Oreld’s Orders

Pack 3
HEROES OF CRUMLAND
Heracles - Jandar
Pel the Hill Giant - Utgar
Patrick Ferguson - Einar
Hrognak - Utgar

Heroes of Crumland is the third booster of Wave 20. We go all over the Heroscape universe for these heroes: Ancient Greece, Feylund, Colonial America, and Grut. Keep on the lookout for one more pack, coming soon.

=======================

Patrick Ferguson

PDF File

Patrick Ferguson is remembered by some as the inventor of the Ferguson rifle, and by others for refusing to kill Gen. George Washington because it would have been dishonorable to shoot him in the back. Now on Valhalla, Patrick Ferguson brings his technical innovation and code of honor to the services of Einar.

The figure used for this unit is from the Scenearama Revolutionary War set.

=======================

Pel the Hill Giant

PDF File

Pel isn't your typical hill giant. A bit on the small side, and not a skilled or disciplined fighter, Pel makes up for his weaknesses with brute strength equal to that of any other giant. He feels equally at home with Dreadguls or Death Chasers, as long as he gets to cause mayhem with his axe.

The figure used for this unit is Ogre from the Blood of Gruumsh box set from the D&D Dungeon Command line.

=======================

Heracles

PDF File

Heracles, renowned for his monster-slaying, is summoned by Jandar. Heracles takes upon himself Labors, feats of extraordinary power, tossing aside anybody foolish enough to stand between him and his monstrous foes.

The figure used for this unit is Hercules from the Heroclix, Infinity Challenge set.

=======================

Hrognak

PDF File

The story of Hrognak's rise through the ranks is well-told on Grut. Trained as a Heavy Grut, Hrognak once picked up the bow of a fallen Arrow Grut and discovered he was a natural archer. His presence inspires haste in his fellow orcs, who believe that this is only the start of Hrognak's legend.

The figure used for this unit is one of the two Orc Archer figures from the Blood of Gruumsh box set from the D&D Dungeon Command line.

8 Life? 6 Attack when unarmed? I think we have different definitions of 'not superhuman'.

Legendary stamina and fighting prowess. His name rings down the ages for a reason.

Heracles/Hercules is a demi-god (son of Zeus and a mortal mother) so he would definitely be superhuman.

Yep. This perfectly human Heracles was so awesome he gave rise to stories about the gods.

Ah, OK. So...why make this a perfectly human Heracles when all of the mythology suggests he is more than a human? Seems like a theme break to use a well documented (if fictional) character and then change it.

I think either route would have been reasonable. Either make him actually supernatural and move him to, say, Feylund and call him Rehacles or something, or keep him on Earth as a legendarily powerful but non-supernatural human.

(I should also say that this is my take on it all rather than officially the C3V line. If people want to consider him a supernatural earthling that's fine too.)

We're in valhalla. Human Vikings from earth have magical spirit powers. A gladiator can defend successfully against gunfire. Sometimes Spiderman shows up. I think a superhuman isn't too big a stretch.

Some thoughts on the heroes.
Fergeson: I was super excited to see a revolutionary british hero. It helps that I own the figure as well. The theme looks cool and the guy does have potential as a 40 pt hero. For being a sniper 7 range is weak. I also was bummed that hes not a soldier. I love playing soldier builds with 10th and marcus decimus with maybe some cathars or romans. This guy cant get the soldier bonus.(which would be cool.)
Pel the ogre I mean hill giant: seems like a neat figure that has ogre ish type negative powers and looks like an ogre. Has pretty decent stats and looks fun to play. Gets to bond with dreadguls and/or deathchasers. But the other giants besides jotun cant bond with either it seems. (Just brought this up in their thread.)
Orc hero seems ok. Nothing incredible but useful and gives some love to the grut orcs.
Heracles: not sure why not just call him hercules. Even at 200 pts he still looks a bit strong. I initially thought we were going to get a hero that helps the macdirks not be so weak in their defense. Just some thoughts on the designs. I know these take quite a bit of time to get tested and for the most part seem pretty cool. Always exciting to get some new units. Thanks c3v team. Looking forward to what else is brewing.

Just a little bit of Mythological history for you, @TREX , Heracles was actually his original, Greek name - Hercules is just the name he's more commonly known by now as that's what the Romans later called him.

I don't post much on here, but I visit often. I wanted to say thanks to all those who work so hard on this site and on keeping 'Scape alive--and especially for C3V work. I'm continuing to expand into these new units as I am able.

Great work guys!
