Pack 3
HEROES OF CRUMLAND
Heracles - Jandar
Pel the Hill Giant - Utgar
Patrick Ferguson - Einar
Hrognak - Utgar
Heroes of Crumland is the third booster of Wave 20. We go all over the Heroscape universe for these heroes: Ancient Greece, Feylund, Colonial America, and Grut. Keep on the lookout for one more pack, coming soon.
=======================
Patrick Ferguson is remembered by some as the inventor of the Ferguson rifle, and by others for refusing to kill Gen. George Washington because it would have been dishonorable to shoot him in the back. Now on Valhalla, Patrick Ferguson brings his technical innovation and code of honor to the services of Einar.
The figure used for this unit is from the Scenearama Revolutionary War set.
=======================
Pel isn't your typical hill giant. A bit on the small side, and not a skilled or disciplined fighter, Pel makes up for his weaknesses with brute strength equal to that of any other giant. He feels equally at home with Dreadguls or Death Chasers, as long as he gets to cause mayhem with his axe.
The figure used for this unit is Ogre from the Blood of Gruumsh box set from the D&D Dungeon Command line.
=======================
Heracles, renowned for his monster-slaying, is summoned by Jandar. Heracles takes upon himself Labors, feats of extraordinary power, tossing aside anybody foolish enough to stand between him and his monstrous foes.
The figure used for this unit is Hercules from the Heroclix, Infinity Challenge set.
=======================
The story of Hrognak's rise through the ranks is well-told on Grut. Trained as a Heavy Grut, Hrognak once picked up the bow of a fallen Arrow Grut and discovered he was a natural archer. His presence inspires haste in his fellow orcs, who believe that this is only the start of Hrognak's legend.
The figure used for this unit is one of the two Orc Archer figures from the Blood of Gruumsh box set from the D&D Dungeon Command line.

Gonna offer a bit of criticism. The first two units are kind of bleh, IMO. Patrick in particular might have trouble being worth OMs. Pel is probably more interesting to play than he is on paper. Only having negative powers is unique.
![]() Heracles looks pretty good even for an expensive medium figure. He lives to kill Hydras and nails the theme perfectly. Hrognak is the best of the bunch. A ranged bonding option for orcs is cool and the movement buff is powerful. At the same time gruts are fairly dependent on Tornak/Grimnak's buffs so it should be interesting to see how he shakes up conventional strategies. At the end of the day, more Heroscape = automatically good. ![]() ~TAF, ![]() |

Kind of surprised to see you sign off on Heracles, I have to say - I thought you had some kind of rule against recognisable characters.
![]() That being said, it looks like an awesome pack. ![]() |

Yeah to be honest the traditionalist side of me has not been too keen on orcs from Grut that don't have the typical forehead ridges, top knots, and slender build but even I have to admit that Hrognak looks like he would be a lot of fun and might make his way into my army!

Heracles seems insane. Brutalizes Hydras and would probably maim dragons.
Pel is a very interesting idea in terms of design. Hrognak seems very good and will shake up army designs. While the most boring, Patrick is like a mini zetacron who will definitely see play in my playgroups multiplayers but overall the least exciting. |

I actually really like Patrick. I'm a sucker for thematic heros, and I love little filler units that can still ooze theme without being overly complex. Great release overall guys, I can't wait to try them all out!

love the new scapeMost excited about Hercules. Didn't really see this one coming as the actual hero/demigod. Looks like a real hydra / dragon killer.
Fun to think of him having a war of attrition with Charos and his counterstrike. |

A solid ranged filler?
Another wild giant to bond with Dreadgul Raiders? A Q9, dragon, and hydra killer? A ranged orc champion to bond with my gruts? All so playable, all so flavorful. You C3V teamsters are champions! Thank you! (Now I really need to hunt down a Blood of Gruumsh box...) |

@Porkins ... no... I didn't say that. I said Heracles was. I'm just surprised to see him here, as I remember there being a rule against specific, actual characters from elsewhere.

There aren't any rules like that Lazy Orang, although there is often unofficial consensus on topics. (Also, I think Patrick Ferguson is more "actual" than Heracles.)

I meant actual fictional characters from outside sources, @ollie - I know real, historical people are fair game, as Spartacus, Crixus, Parmenio and C3V's own Tomoe Gozan have shown - but I'm damn sure that there was a rule floating around SoV that no fictional character from an outside source was allowed. This just seems a particularly bizarre U-Turn, especially since Asterios's bio had to be changed to make him come from Feylund rather than letting him be the actual mythical Cretan Minotaur from Earth.
![]() It's a damn cool card, though. ![]() |

Well, this isn't SoV. Also, this Heracles is not fundamentally superhuman; if he were then I'd've argued for something like the Asterios switch.
