Rise of Orgsbane
Repaint Feature

One of the most terrifying squads—and sculpts—from Classic ’Scape (in my opinion) is the Minions of Utgar. With Deadly Strike and an unshakeable defense, these winged fiends of Utgar have likely reigned chaos and destruction on your battlefields.
But what would an angel or a demon look like without its wings? This was the question and challenge leveled to orgsbane when I commissioned his work for a repainting / reimagining of the minion sculpt.
The result of orgsbane’s artistry and ingenuity was a trio of barbarians that were featured in a Custom Contest from 2013.
In our collaboration, we decided on a few things. If we were going to clip the minion’s wings, there might be some visible damage to the miniature. We procured some Warhammer weapon bits to add a sword and scabbard on the figure’s back. This would add to the design and provide a disguise for any markings.
orgsbane provided the look and feel for the “black oil tainted” barbarians. He got the idea from a book called The Oath, in which people are infected by a supernatural “oil.” In orgsbane’s design, the barbarians look normal on the outside, but when they bleed, they bleed the black oil taint. This detail of gore adds to the vile visage of the barbarians.
When we revealed the repainted minions to the Heroscapers community there was a great response to orgsbane’s work. The barbarians sparked many ideas—from new unique heroes to squad figures. I invite you to look at the fantastic custom ideas from the old thread.

Wow, what a transformation.
Really cool but I am not sure I can advocate the mutilation of one of my favorite minis.  Nonetheless, very impressive! |

Great repaints! I'd forgotten about that contest, that was a fun one. My entry (The Gromm Brothers) didn't do too well, but I was very pleased with the epic poem I came up with for their bio:
"For Blood! For Brothers! For Crom!" Shout the three mighty Brothers named Gromm, With a swing of the ax, They're disturbing the pax, Because you insulted their mom. |
