My MarvelScape Debut Map

Marvel Battlefield Concept Map

This will probably be the map that debuts my MarvelScape creations. I only first purchased a Marvel HeroScape Master Set a short time ago and have not played many of the included scenarios yet. Now, Iíll be completely honest here, Iím not a big comic book fan. I donít know many of the charactersí back-stories so creating meaningful scenarios might prove difficult (ďfunĒ, I can do; ďmeaningfulĒ, not so sure). I thought the map shown above would be fun.

I think the asphalt could become sticky tar slowing down movement. (Trapping figures is fun too, but much more difficult to write.) I've also tried to balance the lava-to-tar ratio as best I could but if anybody sees something I've missed please let me know.

I placed the Object of Power within the Warehouse ruin. My guess is that itís kinda like a Tesla Earthquake Device, hence the ruined warehouse. The violent movement of tectonic plates has pushed molten magma and bubbling hot tar to the surface engulfing the area inÖ erÖ hot stuff. Okay, Iím still working on it.

The device is secret technology and got turned on by accident. Everyone wants it off! The good guys want it turned off for obvious reasons. The bad guys want it turned off so they can steal the technology and use it for their own sinister purposes. Turning off the device could as simple as a D20 roll. Although, Iím not sure how difficult the roll should be.

Iím open to any suggestions regarding this map. Thanks.

For turning off the device (the objective), maybe have it be more difficult than a D20 roll. I think something turn-based could work well, like "one of your figures must be standing on the glyph at the end of a round. If you achieve this twice, you win". I guess it depends on how long you want the game to last.

I played this scenario last night, to turn off the the device the player must be un-engaged and roll the D20 instead of attacking. Last night - the device did not get turned off!

With out a doubt, YES! Hulk can almost superleap from the start-zone to the glyph! I'd also like to come up with a better reason for the players to stay out in the lavafield longer.
