Fun with Marvel Heroscape

Posted August 31st, 2008 at 04:50 PM by Majai of Dreams
So last night 5 of us were all ready to play Heroscape, when someone suggested we play with the Marvel figures. So we dusted them off and let the power struggle ensue!

We had an amazingly fun time with ignoring the point values and just randomly giving out 2 figures to each player and having a free for all.

Even though some teams point values were around 300, while some teams were in the 700s, no one felt it was unbalanced. In a free for all battle, we knew who was the threat at what time, so people brought their figures where they were needed.
Several amusing matchups ensued with several mini skirmishes in all areas of the map.

The fact that the teams were unbalanced did not at all weigh in on who won. Teams with more powerful figures like the Hulk and Thanos tended to go down more quickly, while the Red skull tended to be avoided and was able to come from behind and deal some damage.

There were so many fun moments when everyone was scrambling to defeat Thanos's surviving partner, to bring them down before the conqueror could return to life.
And we were making fun of the Red skull and Captain America because they couldn't fly or leap etc... HAHAHA!!!

There is something to say about rolling 6+ die for every roll. There is something terribly satisfying about rolling so many dice and getting numerous successes.

In short, we had a blast. I hope they make more expansions to add variety to the options.

Glad to see that someone else realized how awesome and fun Marvelscape really is. You might want tocheck out the BoM thread: there's several great maps there that work with Marvel. Also, using castle with Marvel figures rocks.
