Fan Fiction Spotlight
Indiana Jones and the Wizards of the Coast, by The Deadliest Warrior

The title alone gives you ideas. This is a fan fiction that promises to be good, filled with Indy action and HeroScape action. And The Deadliest Warrior delivers on both, and more.

I stumbled across “Indiana Jones and the Wizards of the Coast” when I was creating the Index of Fan Art and Fiction. I instantly knew that this was a cut above the normal fan fiction, but it still took me some time to actually start reading it. Several convincing reviews later, I dug in. I’ve never regretted it. I even reread it once. That’s something that not many fan fictions can claim.

TDW creates a great atmosphere with his story. It feels like an Indiana Jones movie. It’s authentic. Combining HeroScape into the picture not only works, but works well. It feels real, like the two actually belong together. There is a perfect mix of both, meaning that neither element is left behind.

TDW doesn’t stop there though. He works in HeroScapers. Not the site, the people. He has fun populating the Jones-verse with well-known usernames, and pitching them against the evil forces of WotC.

For me though, the best part of this fan fiction is the humor. TDW capitalizes on the opportunity to poke fun at WotC, and makes things we take for granted here on HSers a reality. Before you know it, WotC is sending evil spam bots to take down Indy, who is aided by ban-hammer-wielding admins.

It’s a fun journey that has no equal, and it’s one I wouldn’t mind taking again.

Author Background (Last Active September, 2016)

For the most part, The Deadliest Warrior was before my day. He has a sizeable collection of stories, totaling five altogether. They range in rating from an 8.33 all the way to a 2. From what I can tell, he got better the longer he wrote, with his “A Quality of Mercy” topping the list, even though it was a short fiction only one chapter long.

TDW demonstrated that he can write at any end of the spectrum. Unfortunately, like so many authors before him, it’s been a long time since he wrote anything, his last fiction being released in August of 2012.

But what he gave us before he left is yet another brick in the structure that is HeroScape. His fan fictions helped give HS life, and the least we can do is give some of that life back. So drop by and give “Indiana Jones and the Wizards of the Coast” a read. You won’t regret it. Believe me.

I remember reading this one. Definitely one of the best entries in the Index. Anyone who likes Heroscape or Indy will enjoy it.
