íScaper of the Month: TREX
Author: Fi Skirata

Who are you really?
My name is Jared Trexler.

How old are you?
I am 30 years old.

What is your occupation?
I have 2 jobs: I have been an operator at a Pepperidge Farm production plant for the last 12 years, and I am also a forklift mechanic for a family-owned business.

What other interests do you have?
I like to collect and modify guns, and build, paint, and sculpt things in my shop (Heroscape terrain and figures, mainly). I also like to hang out with my wife and daughter, and play video games when I have time (usually loses out to tabletop games). Another thing that I enjoy doing is weightlifting and training on my heavy bag.

Whatís another board game you enjoy and why?
Besides Magic AOTP, I like Star Wars Imperial Assault. This game is really fun. It has multiple modes in which you can skirmish with other players in team battles and/or free-for-alls, and also has a campaign mode that looks quite fun but I havenít had time to try out. I really love that you can use the Imperial Assault figures for HoSS, and use the other Star Wars minis for Imperial Assault. There are quite a few sculpts in Imperial Assault that are a reasonable price compared to the more expensive HoSS figures.

When and how did you get into Heroscape?
It was by accident. I had seen the master set in a Walmart before, but what pulled me in was a Marvel set on clearance at a Kmart. I was convinced my kid brothers would love it, and I got reeled in as well. (I now have the entire collection; heaven knows Iíve spent too much money.)

How did you get started in HoSS?
Iím a huge Star Wars fan. I started making customs and got a template from mac122, then I got interested in playtesting for them. I really enjoyed playing Heroscape with a bunch of my favorite Star Wars characters, and was quite impressed at how the HoSS team took on my suggestions and noted the value in a team project to make quality cards for play.

Is there any figure that you would change, given the chance?
Iím not sure ... Iíve dabbled with some Delta+ cards, and I just keep going back to the originals. There are a few cards out there that need some help, but in the end I just want to make new creations.

What is your favorite HoSS figure?
It was Boba Fett ... until I play tested Darth Maul the other day. Now itís Darth Maul. (Heís not released yet. He needs more playtesting.)

Being a newly christened member of the council (the voting bloc of HoSS), how would you describe your experience playtesting and designing with HoSS?
I love working with the guys at HoSS: they are a great, creative bunch of guys that have a real passion for Star Wars and Heroscape. All you guys that are on the fence about playtesting, jump in. All it will do is help us release more awesome, balanced designs for all of us to enjoy.

Which character or unit would you most like to see next from HoSS?
Iím a sucker for all the clone troopers and Jedi in the prequels: I canít wait for those.

What do you enjoy most about Heroscapers.com?
There are a lot of friendly creative people that all come together for something we all enjoy, even though some say itís dead.

Describe your favorite Heroscape moment.
Iíve had quite a few funny moments. Iíll have to say when my Quasatch hero I sculpted made it on the first page, followed second by my terrain getting honored as well.

Is there any member of Heroscapers.com youíd really like to play against?
There are a lot of great people I would love to play with. Iím going to say, Iíd like to have a go playing HoSS figures with the HoSS team members.

We apologize for skipping February. Scytale has joined us as a backup writer for several departments, and we're hoping that some minor rule tweaks will help us stay on top of the deadlines.

We regret to announce that Taeblewalker's article has been delayed due to inactivity. Dysole tried to get something up in his place, but there just wasn't enough time.

Fortunately, all other articles are currently on schedule.

This is the AK-47 Assault Rifle, the preferred weapon of our enemy. It makes a distinctive sound when fired.

I love guns and am addicted to buying video games and little plastic figurines. Sorry chutes and ladders.
