Found A Girl

Posted November 4th, 2015 at 04:06 PM by Sylvano the Wasabus
My friend found a girl. Not a new girl friend, but a young woman in a ditch.
He said to me “I found a girl.”
I answered by raising my eyebrows- I like his wife and I know he likes his wife. They’ve been together for twenty years and are a happy couple still.
“Not like that.” He said.
I snorted, disgusted.
“I found a girl in a ditch.” He explained. “She was nineteen years old, in one of those little black dresses.”
By this time I was scratching my head, confused. “What were you doing in the ditch?”

Let me tell you a little bit about my friend. He is a gentle giant. He’s the same size wide as tall. When he was younger he looked terrifying. Now that he’s getting older though he looks a bit chubby. He has massive arms and hands. He shaves his head, which makes him look scary. But he’s a really nice guy.

He has a passion for minis and is the best mini painter I’ve ever seen. He likes dwarves too, so we have a lot in common. He’s also a devoted gamer. A very sweet man.

But he works as a bouncer. His philosophy is “a person goes wherever there little finger goes” – meaning he deals with trouble by taking the little finger and bringing it some place, and the owner of the little finger goes along too. Usually just the sight of him is enough to stop trouble.

He ends up in the worse situations and neighbourhoods all the time because he has no fear. He’s no cavalier. He comes from a crime family and spent his formative years in a motorcycle club working as the head of a theft ring. That’s all behind him now- he had the realization that it wasn’t going anywhere good. So he just walked away. He was big enough that no one tried to stop him.

Anyway, he was in a sketchy part of town, just walking down the street in the rain when he happened to look beside him, into the ditch. He saw feet and legs.

At first he thought she was dead. She wasn’t moving. She was wearing a little black dress and was muddy and wet with the weather. He climbed down into the ditch to examine what he thought was a dead body.

But she was not dead. She had a pulse and was breathing. He called an ambulance and put his coat around her. She started puking, so he held her and tried to clean her up.

He found her purse in the ditch, completely intact. By the time the ambulance found them she had even spoken. It had been her birthday. Her friends had taken her out. She had she turned nineteen, which is the drinking age in this province. She had gotten drunk and tried to walk home and ended up in the ditch. Her shoes were gone.

My friend thought she was lucky. She may not have had very good friends but she was fortunate that he had found her, not a thief, or a rapist. Or just the November cold.

He’s still smiling.

Sounds like a wonderful man. Sometimes I wonder why the world doesn't have more people like that.

Hooray for us Big Guys. I may be about to use the Strong Guy X-Man card for the first time in a NYCG4 game (see our thread in Official Heroscape/General Discussion). He's like your pal come to life!

One of your best blogs Sylvano.
Thank you for sharing that.
It is hard to imagine the leader of a crime ring with a big heart to match his giant body.
Now that is one for the nature vs. nurture debate.
