Isle of the Dragon!

Well met!

I bought a few things from Petco, Petland, something like that, and incorporated them into a new map:

Isle of the Dragon!

The Power Glyphs represent Teleporters,
with which units can travel from end to end
(left to right and vice versa) of the map.

Some older pics, before Teleporters moved:

Spoiler Alert!
Other than the Teleporters (units move into one Teleporter and exit through the other), there are no special rules for this map. Teleporters are included so that units can travel width-wise from plateau to plateau without flying, which was a problem with an earlier map with twin plateaus.

Teleporters?

Well met!

I had initially thought of allowing teleportation between any Dungeon tiles, but thought better of it. The Teleporters help heroes, as they can simultaneously threaten both plateaus. Without them, only squads can do that. Even so, for various reasons, we may decide not to use them, once we've played a game or two.

Blessing in Disguise

Well met!

This map accommodates the large bases of the new Varkaanans (and contains lots of Shadow for the Darkclaws), which chas just purchased, and is chomping at the bit to field. As a result, there is none of the claustrophobic effect of many of my previous maps (plenty of room for Dragons, of course, and other double-spaced figures. There is also no excessive height, and that which exists can be attacked from strong positions in Shadow from below, as well as approached from same. There are also lots of LoS blockers (as usual ).

It looks like the Gang of Four will be able to gather in its entirety in September, so we'll soon see how it plays.

P.S.: Moved Glyphs more equidistant from Start Zones, and added pics.

What ARE those glowing skull things? They look awesome! I could see some kind of scenario where they make Fire Line type attacks at the end of a round on a d20 roll. Sort of a "Raiders" type trap.

Aquarium decorations from Petco or Petland, as are the Gate figures.

Story/Scenario Wanted

Well met!

The Gang of Four will be playing on
Isle of the Dragon on 9/20.

chas has purchased his own Wave 17 Varkanaans (see Molten Valley Battle Report) and is eager to field them again.

Normally, I have a scenario in mind before, or one occurs to me soon after, a map is built. In this case, all I can come up with are the standard formats (kill em all, capture the flag, etc.) or a recycling of one of my own ideas (delayed hostilities from The Lost City of Ashra!, control of a particular area from Unusual Scenario - Cold Mountain - Battle Report, or divided initial placement from A Swell Party! - A Valhalla Society Adventure, etc.).

But this map cries out for a story/scenario of its own. So I'm asking for help. Among the many scenario writers, and writers in general, I'm hoping that at least one (and possibly two) unique and special scenario(s) will be proposed, polished, and available for perusal by 9/13 (Friday the Thirteenth ), so the Gang will have time to create armies for it (them).

Well met!

The Shadow Passage has added height in the center.
