Winter Palace Revision

Posted January 27th, 2013 at 10:54 PM by kolakoski
Well met!

Here is a revised version of the Winter Palace. Start Zone placement is an issue. This time I split off three hexes and placed them near the Wizards Towers cata-cornered from the main Start Zones.

Wither must I Wander?

Home no more home to me, whither must I wander?
Hunger my driver, I go where I must.

Start Zones are Asphalt (upper left (3 hexes)) and lowerright (27 hexes)) and Concrete (upper left (3 hexes)) and lower right (27 hexes))from the Marvel Master Set.

Cold blows the winter wind over hill and heather;
Thick drives the rain, and my roof is in the dust.

Note the 3 Concrete Star Zone hexes in the upper right hand corner.

Loved of wise men was the shade of my roof-tree.
The true word of welcome was spoken in the door --

Note the 3 Asphalt Star Zone hexes in the upper left hand corner.

Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.

Home was home then, my dear, full of kindly faces,
Home was home then, my dear, happy for the child.

There is Ice at the four highest hexes in the palace . . .

Fire and the windows bright glittered on the moorland;
Song, tuneful song, built a palace in the wild.

. . . And in each Wizards Tower (top left),
as well as in each Evergreen Tower (left center) . . .

Now, when day dawns on the brow of the moorland,
Lone stands the house, and the chimney-stone is cold.

. . . And in each Wizards Tower (top right),
as well as in each Evergreen Tower (right center) . . .

all of which . . .

. . . are at level 6.

The various kinds of Water, with Jungle and Shadow, are a bit more condensed, . . .

Lone let it stand, now the friends are all departed,
The kind hearts, the true hearts, that loved the place of old.

. . . but there are still a few dramatic views.

Spring shall come, come again, calling up the moorfowl,
Spring shall bring the sun and rain, bring the bees and flowers;

The Confrontation Wall placement makes a bit more sense.

Red shall the heather bloom over hill and valley,
Soft flow the stream through the even-flowing hours;

Fair the day shine as it shone on my childhood --
Fair shine the day on the house with open door;

Birds come and cry there and twitter in the chimney --
But I go for ever and come again no more.
