This month we get another great interview from a prominent member of the C3G.

'Scaper-of-the-Month #81 is...

Who are you, really?
I am a Junior at High Point University majoring in Communications: Electronic Media. Not sure what I am going to do with that when I graduate but that's what I am studying.

How old are you?
Depending on when this is posted I may be 19 but at the time I am writing this, I am 18. My birthday is on June 18th.

What is your occupation?
Just a student right now. But this summer I am working for a family friend and he has a handyman/window cleaning business so I've been pretty busy doing a variety of things. In the fall I will either be working for my school's library in the Media Services center or working for IT. Not sure how that is going to pan out quite yet.

What other interests do you have?
Outside of HeroScape, I love Comics, Movies and just hanging out with my friends.

What’s another board game you enjoy and why?
Me and my friends enjoying playing Brikwars. My friends set it up on their ping pong table using green and blue plastic table cloths to create the land and water featured on the map and then build several buildings. We've only played a handful of times and are still working out a good system to play with about 10 players but it's been a ton of fun so far. I'm hoping to get some Avengers Legos and use them at our next game. We also play Axis and Allies, but I don't enjoy that as much because it is too slow and long.

Who, or what, is you avatar and how did you come up with your username?
My avatar changes fairly often. Initially I used the app icons from the iPhone game Pocket God, but now I just use cool comic book art I find. Sometimes it's related to what I am designing in C3G, sometimes it's not.

When and how did you first get into HeroScape?
The above mentioned friends that I game with also played HeroScape for a while. The first game night I went to that is what they were playing. I only remember one thing about that game night. I was teamed up with the player that everyone perceived as a major thread so I was taken down pretty quickly. Luckily I had the Airborne Elite and my friends still let me try to drop them in after I was taken out and I was able to almost come back using them. It was not fun because every ganged up on me, yet I liked the game enough to start buying it. I'm the only one in our group who still plays HeroScape besides when I have them over to play occasionally, but that's only because of C3G.

What is your favorite aspect of HeroScape and why?
I love the game system itself. I don't play the official stuff very often playing pretty much only C3G designs, but the game system has allowed C3G to flourish and create an awesome Superhero combat game that feels like the comics I enjoy reading.

To whom is your allegiance and why?
Classic: I always liked Vydar. I love sci-fi stuff and he had all the coolest characters.
C3G: I lean pretty heavily towards Marvel, it's what I've read more of and enjoy more.

Who are your favorite heroes and why?
Classic: Moltenclaw. His Special Attack is just so versatile and fun, and the figure looks pretty cool for all the crap it has gotten for being a small dragon.
C3G: Spider-Man. The design is perfect for my favorite comic book character. I love seeing him jumping around and pulling them towards him with his Web Slinger.

Classic: Fen Hydra. What's not to love. The figure is great and he's quite the tank on the battlefield.
C3G: Asgardian Warrior. He's not released yet but man I'm so proud of that design and all the work that C3G put in to refine it. I think it turned out great and I can't wait for you guys to get a chance to play it. On the released side I'd have to say Kang. It's just so cool how we represented a time traveler who has meetings with himself as an Uncommon Hero.

Classic: The Elementals. It's hard to pick just one but if I had to it'd be the Fire Elemental. I know it's cliche but I just love the sculpt and the theme.
C3G: Multiple Man. As one of my first C3G LDs as a Hero, I think we did a pretty good job of representing Jamie Madrox in the HeroScape game system.

What are your favorite squads and why?
Classic: Airborne Elite. They are just so much fun and they are what really made me like the game to begin with. How can I not like them?
C3G: Hired Guns. I think they ended up slightly under-costed, but when I am playing them they are a ton of fun and can really tear up some Heroes quickly.

Classic: Venoc Vipers. I have no shame in admitting I own 10 squads of them and have played them all at once causing my gaming group to start using start zone limits. I just love Frenzy. I once beat a friend in 3 turns because I kept Frenzying and was able to kill his next OM each time before my turn ended.
C3G: S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents. These guys are simple yet innovative and able to take on the biggest Heroes C3G can throw at them.

What is your favorite C3G custom and why?
This is so hard to choose just one. I think my favorite is unreleased so I won't spoil the surprise but out of what we have released I'd have to say our take on Spider-Man is my favorite C3G design. It nails the theme of the character perfectly and gives him the power to take on several of his villains at once and exploit their weaknesses which is great.

What is your favorite Special Ability and why?
Oh wow, this is probably the hardest question on here. So many powers to choose from. I think I would have to go with Heat Vision Special Attack from Supergirl. I love risk vs. rewards powers like that and when this one pays off it can be quite devastating.

What is your favorite map and why?
For Classic battles I love Fen Orc Fort or anything created by GameBear.

For C3G it's a toss up between X Marks the Spot and HYDRA Base Gehenna. Both offer a wide variety of gameplay. On HYDRA base, I've even been known to take the walls off and play like that. It's still great!

What do you enjoy most about HeroScapers.com?
Man this is so cliché but it's all about the people for me. Without some of the great people on here like Griffin, IAmBatman, Hahma, A3n, davidlhsl, Scapemage and many many others that I just can't list this site would not have the draw it does.

Describe your favorite HeroScape moment.
Well it was at one of the many home "tournaments" me and my friends had back in their HeroScape playing days. My friend was running Gladiators and I was running Rats, Q9, Krav and Raelin (I just got Q9 and wanted to try him out, don't judge me, I usually play for fun not to crush people). I also had Isamu in there as a filler and all I had left was him VS 2 squads of Gladiators and Spartacus. Well I used Isamu's Phantom Walk to get past the Gladiators and hit Spartacus because I had nothing to lose at that point, and low and behold, Isamu killed Spartacus. It was so epic! I still lost but that made it totally OK.

Is there any member of HeroScapers.com you’d really like to play against?
I'd love to play against any of the C3G Heroes. Mainly IAmBatman because we talk so often. But I REALLY want to play against davidlhsl. He's a classy guy and I love having him involved in C3G with us.

What is your role in the C3G?
Everything. I playtest. I design. I do the art. I moderate. I am a jack of all trades over there and I love it. The only things I don't do is design maps or terrain. But I just try and do as much as I can for the group because it's something I love to do.

Which unit would you say is better: Incredible Hulk (Hasbro) or Incredible Hulk (C3G)?
Man this is really tough. Both are good designs, but lately I've found there are just so many ways to avoid getting the C3G Hulk enraged. That said, when he does get enraged he's tough to take down and just mows everyone else down. I'd have to say the C3G Hulk is my favorite.

What two units would you like to see in the next Unit Debate?
Captain America (Hasbro) VS Captain America (C3G)

I still use both of them and I feel that both of them are draftable in different situations which is great so I think this would be a great debate.

Tell us two true things about yourself and one lie.
1. I once took second place in a chess tournament.
2. I've never seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies.
3. I was home-schooled from preschool till I graduated from high-school. I never attended public or private schools.

Favorite band: Family Force 5. If you have never heard of them, check them out, they are very unique and catchy. If you have heard of them, I'm surprised.

Favorite book: Well it's a series but I just love Harry Potter. I read those books so many times before the last one came out and they were just a huge part of my childhood.

Favorite Comic Book Storyline: Maximum Carnage. It was just so cool seeing Spider-Man fight someone who out classed him and to see Spidey wrestle with some big moral decisions.

What message do you have for the ‘Scaper community?
Custom is the new official! If you haven't tried out C3G or C3V stuff because you don't feel like they are "official" I promise you are only missing out.

Whom do you pick for the next ‘Scaper of the Week?
Man this is a tough choice, but I'm gonna go with someone who is always good for a laugh. Our tireless C3G ERB and EPB member davidlhsl!

Great interview, and I'm honored and surprised at having been selected.

Fear not, ZBeeblebrox. I can't really leave until I finish my current Burt's Beer Tournament, and I have another exhibition battle during the next break with more C3V figures.

Tickle will still be around on Heroscapers. He just doesn't have the time to be a C3G Hero anymore.

I know, I just found it "funny" that Griff and Tickle left the C3G project around the same time as thier interviews...and of course I had to add in my dark humor

And Tickle, awesome interview...your passion for the C3G is immeasurable.

I hate that I had to step down guys, but I just can't justify having such an active role in the group with all that I have going on at school this fall. Luckily I got ahead in college during high school so I only have 2 years of college left.

I do still want to design the draft I had in the "I'm A Comic Book Character" SSE that Bats had planned. That ones a fun one.

Oops. It's not that interesting honestly. TCG are my initials and LKN is the abbreviation for a lake I live near. Mash them together and you get tcglkn. My parents initially used it to sign me up for an email address when I was a child, now I've taken to using it for almost any site I register for because it's never taken.
