Back by popular demand, it's Top 5! Presented by your friendly neighborhood Dartheyegouger. I haven't read much manga, so don't post things like "Are you kidding? That's the worst SHLOCK I've ever read!" (You know who you are *cough* Karkadinn *cough*!)

Only positives in this thread? Okay then. :D
Battle Angel Alita.
The sheer intricacy of artwork is awe-inspiring, and it's the only comic story I've ever seen to keep the tension high until the very last frame of the very last page. Back when I was trying to cajole HEH to help me make a comic, I used Alita as the prime artistic example; fortunately he was familiar with it already anyway so I didn't have to do much explaining on that end. :)

1. 2001 Nights (http://www.amazon.com/2001-Nights-Death-Trilogy-Overture/dp/1569310564/sr=1-1/qid=1162308679/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-2081221-0136853?ie=UTF8&s=books) (wonderful galaxy-spanning stories and only 3 volumes long and dirt cheap on Amazon)
2. Nausicaa of the Valley Wind (epic...)
3. Blade of the Immortal (http://www.amazon.com/Blade-Immortal-16-Shortcut-Graphic/dp/1593077238/sr=1-1/qid=1162308833/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-2081221-0136853?ie=UTF8&s=books) (wow, getting just a tad bit too bizarre lately)
4. Barefoot Gen (classic)
5. Twisted Fairy Tales series by Junko Mizuno (http://www.amazon.com/Junko-Mizunos-Cinderalla-Mizuno/dp/1591160030/sr=1-4/qid=1162308799/ref=sr_1_4/002-2081221-0136853?ie=UTF8&s=books) (Definitely bizarre & twisted, but I love the art, coloring and paper quality. Everything is taken into consideration)

When you mention top 5, one must mention classic Akira…to me it’s the grandfather of manga.
