http://www.badongo.com/file/1256727 updated

i translate the things how far i got

SPIEL= play

laden=load
auswahl= select

I downloaded it and gave it a try... I don't know what language it is (looks like german ?), but I can't read it !!! :(
I reached a point where you actually select units (not all of them are there BTW), and next... Well I dunno :?
There is some sort of terrain editor too, but again, I failed miserably trying to understand what was going on.
If someone could translate, maybe we could actually try a battle ?

dra(gon)
August 18th, 2006, 03:22 AM
if you are in the charakter selection.
player one or two can select some units. . if the selected pic is in the middel(big card in the middel) on the top is a button "auswahl" click that und army is chosen . than on player two the same. after that choose "spielen"

and you can select the army starter zone

I'm currently testing it, the map builder's not too bad but its annoying that I haven't found out how to zoom out somewhat or rotate the ruins, any clue on how to do it? Oh and once I'm done I'll make a little tutorial for anyone else trying this out.

DJ Ducki
August 18th, 2006, 08:00 PM
For some reason, the program realllllly doesn't like things being run in the background and doesn't like the Print Screen Button so I'm gonna do a post-by-post translation and explaination.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/dj_ducki/Heroscape/HSCTutorial1.jpg

As shown in the Picture, the top button is the one to play your built maps, so it's safe to say it translates to "Play". The second button leads to the Map Editor, as it says. The third button closes down the program, so it's safe to say it means "Close"

DJ Ducki
August 18th, 2006, 08:35 PM
This Next Picture is in the "Editor" Option

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y10/dj_ducki/Heroscape/HSCTutorial2.jpg

Left side:

Start Gebiet - Start Zone Placement
Glyphen - Glyphs (All master set glyphs and the flying glyph)
Steine - Terrain Pieces (Water, Rock, Sand, Grass and some weird black tile, lava or road maybe?)
Objekte - Ruins (Large and Small) and an Object remover (removes glyphs, ruins and possibly start zones)

Right side:

Fläche - Size of the layout (used to define the area for where you place the hex tiles, {Horizontal x Vertical})
Werte - Map Statistics (In Order on the left adjustable things: Rounds to play in the map, Number of players, Artifact glyphs (? not sure) and Army point total. In the right empty area is the description of the senario or map notes, whichever you wish to put)
Laden - Load Map
Neu - Clear Map (I think it translates to "New")
Speichern - Save Map
Beenden - Close (or possibly "Exit" not exactly sure on translations)

Map Editor controls as I know it so far are as follows:

Left click - place objects
Right click - remove objects
~Right click and hold - rotate the camera's view (dunno how to zoom in or out, hopefully they have a function like that)
Arrow Keys - pan the camera around the field

After using Fläche to define the base HxV (exa: 10 x 10), you can start placing hex tiles on the dots that show up on the map. Hex tiles are just click the type and click the dot on the terrain. Stacking terrain is pretty much the same as placing terrain, click the spot where you want it placed. As far as I know, water places like normal terrain. To place glyphs and ruins, choose them and place them on the hex you wish them to be. I don't know at this moment how to rotate the ruins so it's kinda difficult to place them the right way. After your map is finished to whichever specs you wish, use Start gebiet to define the size and location of the starting zones. To place them, just simply click the hex on where it's to be located. After your map's finished, click Werte and define the number of players, rounds, artifacts (?) and army points for the map, put any map notes or description you'd like in there. After that, hit Speichern, type in the name of the map and hit enter to save it. Afterwards, you can hit beenden and go play your map.

I'll get some battle pictures in at a later time, as well as some more detailed map construction pictures as I work with it. Hope this helps everyone so they can build maps in this

No problem, I'm still working on it. The battle test I did was kinda bad. The stats and abilities of the characters aren't good, I don't think they work. I took Carr once and tried using him. Even point blank adjacent to the opponent, he only had 2 dice. I'll keep testing

Hello.

First sorry for my English, i have learned a little bit in school, but i forgot the most.

-the special abilities doesnt work in the moment, but this is the next big thing i'm working on.
-yes you can zoom press and hold the right mouse button and then use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out
-to rotate the ruins and the glyphs (and in future the other objects) just use the mouse wheel.

DJ Ducki
August 21st, 2006, 09:50 AM
Ah alright, I'll work with it a bit and check it out, thanks for pointing that out for me.

Yea, battle testing was kind of off having Drake being shot by Kravs and Carr attacking with 2 attack on a DW9k =p I'm still gonna mess with it and see what I can come up with.

Oh and one final thing, for some reason the Print Screen button doesn't like to work with the program, any clue why? It makes it just that much difficult to take screenshots.

Schmiddie
August 21st, 2006, 10:03 AM
I know the problem with the Print Screen button. I hhope i can fix it. I have made an english version of the game (with my bad english), if i have time i will upload the program.

In next time, i will finish the multiplayer mode. Then it will be able to play over the lan/internet.

Schmiddie
May 14th, 2007, 04:00 PM
So here is a new version.

http://files-upload.com/227625/Heroscape095b.zip.html

In this version, you can play over Internet/Lan. To play over Internt, you have to open port 50000 in your firewall/router. One Player has to host the game and 5 other player can join the game (they have to know the Ip-adress from the host). The host can then choose the map (in this version all people must have this map too), In the PLayername Menu the players can choose their team (its possible to choose the same team). All peoples without a team or in a wrong team (for instance team 3 in a 2 player game) will be observers from the game. Over the hole game you can chat with the other peoples.

It is the first version with multiplayer, so i think there are failures in the program. So feel free an test it, and maybe give me feedback.
When you have questions, ask me.

have fun

aielman

Schmiddie, I love the effort you are taking to design this game, however the game in its current form, just isn't playable without alot of information/debugging I think the biggest thing is, I can't understand german, and even when I try to use the english version, half of the stuff is still in german. Is there a way you move the german/english stuff into a config type file that anyone with a text editor can edit? I think that would help alot. Also, I am a programmer by trade, so if you need some help with the debugging just pm me.

Schmiddie
May 15th, 2007, 02:47 AM
When you change the language, you have to restart the program. All Menues and buttons will be then in english. But unfortunately the army cards are still in german, because the cards are only pictures, when you want these cards in english, you have to replace with english-versions (sorry, but I don't have english cards). The cards are in the "Figuren" folder.

Sir Flak
May 16th, 2007, 12:54 AM

THank you for the link. I have made the cards for my program from the pictures in the link.

so here is the link
http://files-upload.com/231164/Figuren.zip.html

You have to replaye the "Figuren" folder with this one.

So here is an updated feature-list:

-all figures from the basic-set + a few from expansions
-most of the abilities works
-most of the glyphs work
-street, lava and snow included
-trees
-a destructable fort
-a woodplank
-an editor to create own maps (incl. simple random-map generator)
-you can create holes in the map
-2-4 player mode
-you can play against a simple computer-opponent
-Internet/Network Multiplayermode with spectators

Schmiddie
May 16th, 2007, 08:36 AM
So here is a little introduction to the editor.

First you have to set the dimensions.
Push the button "Size" and then you can change this.
Maximum is only the power and memory of the computer.
http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/818/editor1fr6.th.jpg (http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor1fr6.jpg)

When you hit the button "Random" a simple randomized ares will be created (first you have to set the dimensions to 10x10 or higher)
http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5741/editor2gk5.th.jpg (http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor2gk5.jpg)
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/6447/editor3oe8.th.jpg (http://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor3oe8.jpg)

To make your own landscape, use the Button "Terrain Pieces" and choose
the stones.
http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/7682/editor4kb4.th.jpg (http://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor4kb4.jpg)
Left mouseclick to add a stone and right mouseclick to remove a stone.
If you hold the left mousebutton and move the mouse you can drag a line
of stones. When you hold the left mouse button and use the mousewheel,
you can easily put more stones on the same place.

http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/4659/editor5ko4.th.jpg (http://img125.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor5ko4.jpg)
The black stone is to build holes. In this example first build the wall around the hole, then fill the hole with the black stones and then
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6282/editor6dk3.th.jpg (http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor6dk3.jpg)

put normal stones on the black stones. The black stones will be invisible and in the game figures can walk in the hole.

With these stones you can also create this for example.
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/4035/editor7de4.th.jpg (http://img297.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor7de4.jpg)

In this version of the program, these objects are available:
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/9308/editor8eq4.th.jpg (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor8eq4.jpg)

So you can create a fort.
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/4724/editor9rx8.th.jpg (http://img404.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor9rx8.jpg)
the entrance can be opened or closed in the game (a figure has to stand
over the entrance). There are 3 different parts of the fort and you can
combine the parts in different ways.
(The Fort is inspirated from a german fan)
The complete fort can be destroyed with normal attacks.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/5352/editor10nl6.th.jpg (http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor10nl6.jpg)

You can put ladders on the fort, so figures can climb up/down
(3 movement points).

With the black stones you can also build bridges.
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/9964/editor11ey8.th.jpg (http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor11ey8.jpg)
The wall you can clip an every 3 stones which have the same high and a
ground on the side.

An other variant of a bridge (woodplank)
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2659/editor12kj3.th.jpg (http://img508.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor12kj3.jpg)

So when the map is complete you can add glyphes,
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/11/editor13jy6.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor13jy6.jpg)

add the Startzones
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1724/editor15sp2.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor15sp2.jpg)
4 different colors for max. 4 different players.

And finally change the gamestats in the "Statistic" menu.
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/4746/editor14rm1.th.jpg (http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=editor14rm1.jpg)

Artefacts has no funktion in this version. In the future you will capture
artefact-glyphs to win.

So enough for now.

thats nice, schmiddie.

Is it similar to virtualscape? What i mean by that is do you have like 360 degree rotation. Thats pretty cool. Zzzzzz Is also working on a game version that runs with virtual scape. http://www.heroscapers.com/community/showthread.php?t=1586&start=450
Is this like the first actual program that is a game version?

Schmiddie

There is no 2D like in virtualscape.
This program is full 3D. You can move, rotate and zoom easily in the
game.
Move: direction keys
Rotate: 2,4,6,8 on the NUM-Block or when you hold the
right-mousebutton and move the mouse
Zoom: Pg up/down or Mousewheel

After this you will enter the battlefield, where you can look down (2 on Num-Pad or hold right mousebutton and look around).

P.S. there is still a bug in the game (i can't find it until yet), when the screen goes black and you can only see the menu, youhave to restart the game.

So here is a little explanation, how to play the game.

First you have to choose the map (there is only one, but you can make more in the editor)
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9123/spiel1vb5.th.jpg (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel1vb5.jpg)

Then you will roll the dices to choose who will select the first armycard
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7043/spiel2gj6.th.jpg (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel2gj6.jpg)

Now you can choose the cards
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8066/spiel3uu3.th.jpg (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel3uu3.jpg)

Select the card

When all Army-cards are chosen, the player can put the armys on the battlefield

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/8675/spiel6nk3.th.jpg (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel6nk3.jpg)

After this you will place the marker
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/2023/spiel7gq2.th.jpg (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel7gq2.jpg)
Only choose a marker on the right site, and then click on the figure(s) you want
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4001/spiel8ed6.th.jpg (http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel8ed6.jpg)

Roll the dices to choose who will begin
http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/3913/spiel9wj7.th.jpg (http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel9wj7.jpg)

when you click on a figure, you will see the army card in the left-upper site, when you click on this card, you will see the card bigger, to better read the stats

movemant phase: choose the figure and you will see the places you can move
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/9408/spiel10nr6.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel10nr6.jpg)

when you moved the figure, you see the attack-distance (when a enemy is in range you only have to click on him)
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/1412/spiel11nv9.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel11nv9.jpg)

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/7109/spiel12ul3.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel12ul3.jpg)

attack phase (player 2) click on enemy and you see the dices on every site
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/5792/spiel13lf6.th.jpg (http://img519.imageshack.us/my.php?image=spiel13lf6.jpg)
