Where do I find foam?

Does anyone know of a good place to find the foam sheets for storing miniatures? I purchased some really nice storage containers and have been debating on how I want to separate/protect the figures. I decided to go with the grey foam, so that I can cut the size openings I need. HELP!

Tackleboxes work wonders for storing and separating figs.

You could get foam at just about any hobby shop or craft shop. I bet Wal-Mart would even have some in their crafts department.

There are lots of sellers on the internet. Here's one:

Fabric outlets will have lots of foam that you can use. You can also find this foam at Michaels, and other arts and craft stores. I have also seen this foam in army surplus stores.

Thanks guys! I have been looking at most of the places you mentioned but I couldn't find the 2" thick or thicker foam. I wonder if I was just not looking hard enough.

Save yourself some time/money and just throw all of your figs in one big bin like I do.

If the figs were metal or you had to glue them together I would understand the need to protect them. But these figs are pretty tough.

I usually work up a good bit of foam brushing my teeth, but unfortunately it dissipates quickly. And it's fairly sticky.

Real electronics/computer/tool stores will have the foam as well as cases. Altex doesn't appear to have them online but they do have it in store. Another option is your local shipper. My local PakMail and UPS store keep foam on hand.

I have half my figs in a tacklebox and half in a box I got from Home Depot (that one's great for all the commons). Both boxes were in the $12-15 range. If you have a designated gaming area and want a more permanent system, get those big blue organizers with the little clear, pull-out drawers. My buddy has that setup and it works out really nice.

Thick foam can be expensive. Easiest place to get it is to go to a mattress outlet, or check in the bedroom section of WM. An alternative is to go to an Army surplus store and buy one of the green sleeping bag mats. It will have to be laid out to straighten, as they get rolled up and seem to maintain that curl.

Honi soit qui mali pense
