Horrorclix HS Custom Cards: Tarrant Ray added 6/20

Wizkids has released a horror based game named Horrorclix. The line features plastic, prepainted figures of monsters and those who fight them.

I thought it would be useful to have a thread where custom creators can start throwing around card ideas for some of the figures.

CARDS THAT HAVE BEEN TESTED


Here is a card made to use the Jester figure. Since the evil clown figure is so cool, it makes for a nice figure to use with Grungebob's Halls of Valhalla inducted creation: Blix the Insane Deathclown. I love the unit card and the twisted looking figure, so they are a great match.



This is one interpretation of zombies I came up with and modified the card to use the Horrorclix zombie figures. A bit of a nod to Kirkman's Walking Dead comics (which is one of my current favorites).

That's a good looking flipper custom, Annerios.
As you alluded to, there are a lot of difficulties when making flipper cards.
Mainly, what is the trigger effect, can they flip back, and how do you balance the cost of their powerful side?

Since the human side of the card is so overcosted and weak, the other side pretty much HAS to be more powerful than a typical 100 point unit.
When you compare the transforned Soldier to Drake, how does he stand up?
Drake ALWAYS has 6 attack, but lower defense and more life, and a REALLY good special ability.

I'm surprised they haven't put individual pictures up in the HorrorClix Gallery yet - but I read they said they would in early July.

There's the Runaway, girl-holding-a-head figure that reminds me of that crazy little girl custom - was that atmospro's dangerous little girl custom unit?

I'm loving the werewolf as a flip card! I did have to read wolf agility a couple of times to see what you were getting at though. Maybe some room for improvement there. I also think his wolf persona could be a bit tougher as a pay off... maybe even keep the enhanced reflexes through to the wolf side.

Yeah, there is something clunky about the wording and I don't like the title "Wolf Agility" either. These are just test cards (even though they look like finished cards), so any suggestions are welcome! Names, values and even the aligned valkyrie general are all easily adjustable.

The Wolf Agility itself is cool though. There are many figures that can't fly that you look at and know that they should be able to leap over gaps in the terrain or rivers, etc. We used a version of this to enhance the Gorillinators and it worked well.

I thought about making him stronger, but then I started working on the other werewolf figures (one who is obviously a lot stronger looking) and started tweaking attack points for the group.

I thought the Dog Soldier may be weaker, since I thought of him a scientifically created werewolf instead of a purebreed werewolf.

The Wolf Pack Initiate is just a wild and ravenous freshly turned werewolf. Argharna is a powerful werewolf that makes other werewolves. Check out Underworld: Evolution (especially the beginning of the movie) to see the inspiration for these.

Regarding the points on the "flip" card. Should the points on both sides be the same to reflect the draftable value of the unit as a whole or should the points vary on each side to reflect how many points you would get when counting points for a victory?

I don't think I have any of the old two sided cards from .NET saved and I don't remember how this was approached. Any suggestions are welcome.

I think H_E_H had the evil little girl card. I'll have to look that one up.

That is the idea!

Plus, it will be good to have a thread were we can keep all of the custom cards made from these figures. Part of the problem people have in locating custom cards is that they are scattered all over the place in the individual creator threads and galleries. You can't just got to a gallery and see all of the customs made from Mage Knight figures or Heroclix figures, for example.

Perhaps with this topic we can try to keep it together so people can find them easily.

Lovecraft's work can be dense to read, but he is one of the masters of horror literature. His stuff is scary and worth reading.
