HS Dungeons (An HS Variant)

Grungebob has developed an awesome set of rules for a Dungeon game using Heroscape. Here is a large map I built and used to test and play his awesome rules. The basic premise is you build an army to search for treasures (glyphs) and find wandering monsters during the search. Each player can choose to either activate the monsters or their own units (depending on where they place the Order Markers.) The winner is the team that gets the most glyphs off the board at the end of the game. The best part is even if all of a team's units are destroyed they can still play since they can just activate the monsters. Great stuff!

Before populating the dungeon with terrain/furniture:

With terrain/furniture:

Here are few battle scenes (I'll try to post a recap later...it's been a long time since the game though and all the information is now lost on the HQ.)

Son of a crap! I just finished a game called HS Dungeons!

I guess I will find another name.

On another note, that looks really cool.

You guys shoiuld take pictures for WotC - their battle report for Dreamblade sucked ass compared to these great in-the-dungeon shots you have.

Great work.

I have 12 or 14 Wall sets on that map (literally every wall was used-had some doors left over) and about 7 to 8 Floor sets (roughly). The Wall sets included the Floors but the number used is equivalent to using 7 to 8 Floor sets.

Coool!

Things you might have missed in the rulebook:
Figures can't pass through friendly engaged figures.
Figures can't attack themselves.

You posted those maps on HQ too right? I remember it. Its just as amazing now as back then.

Maybe you can answer some of the same questions you answered before like how much time it took you to collect those and how much it cost. [/quote]

I found a good deal on EBay (*ducks from the naysayers ) for a pack of 12 MK 3D dungeon sets (the one with the walls/floors) for about 10.00 a piece and I already had 2 or 3 from it's original release. The setup time was over two nights work. The First night, was the base and half the walls. The second night, was the other half of the walls and all the terrain/furniture inside (which was a lot of fun). We also used some of the traps (acid and spike) traps from the MK Dungeons Trap pack to represent traps. The rules for traps were while passing over the trap, roll an attack Die on a skull take a hit and remove the trap. On a miss, the trap stays but the figure passes safely over. Flyers could ignore them but we had rules on doorways that would not allow flyers to move through a door flying so they had to test for traps if a trap was opposite the doorway they were moving through. It was a lot of fun and I need to set it up again but this time I will probably do a more spherical board.

That map probably cost about 300.00 to 350.00 USD but, except for the large purchase of the 12 3D sets, everything was purchased slowly over a several year time frame.

Cool. Thanks for sharing that with us. Two nights setup time is huge! It must have been fun though!

"Grungebob has developed an awesome set of rules for a Dungeon game using Heroscape".

I have some of these 3D dungeons, and would love to try your rules. Can someone post a link to these rules? I did not see any rules like this in the downloads section.

Thanks!
