Awesome - That's a start!
There were some awesome Warhammer layouts at Gamex with some really cool ruins and custom terrain. It made me think about hosting Heroscape at the event.

Awesome - Not much I assume. It seems pretty casual there. They said they would give us a big area. I could supply all of the terrain and then people could just bring their own armies. We have some time to plan it out. I've been to three of their cons and I just noticed there was never any Heroscape. I asked them and they said they would love for someone to run an event there. We could build a big battle royale map and then have a bunch of small maps for tournie play.

Hey maybe the I5 Beatdown should be switched to this con. I know it would be a big trip for the Northerners but at least they would have all of the other boardgames, RPGs and CCGs going on... There would be lots to do and see and they could turn it into a two day event.

It looks like things are moving forward with this event. I am definitely planning on running a Heroscape tournament at Gateway. The convention organizers will supply dealer dollars to the winners of the tournament plus ribbons.
I have really enjoyed this convention. There should be a lot of open gaming and a lot of individual board game and miniatures tournaments.
You can bookmark the website - http://www.strategicon.net/
there isn't much there yet about the next con.

I don’t know if I will be around for the 31st since it’s a Friday, but I might be able to get out of work. Saturday and Sunday I would be around to help however I can. Are you just planning on running a tournament or will there be mini events etc?

There are usually a bunch of mini events going on. I'm just planning on a big Heroscape tournament on Saturday. I'll probably just go on saturday and maybe sunday.
I don't know which mini events will be happening. I know they did Horror clix 2 events back and I think there is always a Warhammer event. The last con had some incredible looking terrain out for a big Warhammer tournament. They have RPG stuff going on and board games and card games... all sorts of game related activity. I asume they'll start posting a schedule soon. I think there's a game auction for Monday as the only thing posted so far. I know they have tournaments in serious war games and silly kids games too. You can see some of the previous winners on there site (from 2 cons back) and it lists the game tournaments they won in. I know there will be Magic and I'm sure they'll have Age of Empires and Battlelore tournaments.

Hey Rune, time to get this back up near the front. It's getting closer to the first weekend of September. I'm planning on being there (soccer's opening day just got pushed back to the 8th *woo-hoo*).

No, how 'bout you other folks.

I'm being frugal and don't want to pay the extra dough to preregister since i'm only going the one day and that isn't an option. I'll just have to pay at the door. I should be there though, I just can't register for the event beforehand.
