I guess that works so that if you have an order marker on Jotun and he can't reach one (for whatever reason, say it was a single space stacked too high for him to stand on) that you can't throw a friendly figure on the Glyph.
EDIT: I read throw, and it kind of doesn't make sense - can you throw a figure to any height so long as it's within 4 spaces of Jotun?

Close...the key words in the power that apply to your question are 'within clear sight'. That's not a huge distinction, but it would prevent something along the lines of hurling your figures over a castle wall/ruin and onto the other side.

But yeah, in terms of sheer elevation, I don't believe there's a restriction.

Re: The Book of Jotun

I've just been made aware of this through a discussion in the rules thread. Jotun can Throw figures into engagement with Nakitas, Arkhmer and/or the Greater Ice elementals which triggers Engagement Strike and/or Ice Spikes, respectively. Please add to front page synergies.

Re: The Book of Jotun

I'm hoping to get some feedback on a Jotun army idea. This is for a 530 point, Marvel allowed tournament.

Jotun = 225
Raelin = 80
Krav = 100
Nakita = 120

Seems like good synergy in theory. In playtesting, the army doesn't seem to have much staying power.

Re: The Book of Jotun

My first thought is that the Krav and Nakita don't really do much to Marvel heroes (with only 3 attack). They also don't really synergize well together. I'd use one or the other, not both. You could replace them both with Captain America. That still gives you 3 ranged attacks (at a 4, not a 3) plus he protects Raelin a little more...

B.I.V.'s suggestion really hits it; without some heavy range and staying power, Jotun is just a really big target for your opponents. If you're going with Jotun and Raelin, you should really try to include a decent ranged attack unit. Nilfheim and Cap stand out the most, but you could also include some Deathreavers and opt for some cheap, efficient range like the Stingers.

Re: The Book of Jotun

Thanks. I could do Jotun and stingersx5 but that doesn't excite me. Seems like I'd be better off with Captain America and filler than Jotun.

I liked the idea of Raelin and Nakita helping out Jotun against ranged attacks. The stingers are good but they don't make Jotun better and without people making him better, it's hard to justify including Jotun over other big heroes.

Re: The Book of Jotun

I used Jotun to the extreme on the weekend. He ran up and destroyed both the Frost Giant and a Greater Ice Elemental who had height advantage in two order markers.
I was laughing...Then he took out one Dzu-Teh before succumbing to our custom space marines from a distance.

This is the first real success I've had with him. Normally when I use him, he falls to waves of nargrubs.

Just thought I'd share...

I love me some Jotun, but ranged squads are certainly his weakness. When he's still around in the endgame, Jotun can really cause some havoc, but the trick is getting him to live that long while still getting your 225 points out of him.

Conversely, he can be a real beast in dungeon crawls. Typically, a dungeon starts out with a room or two of weaker opponents (usually via giving player 2 an inferior point total). This lets the Jolly Green Giant coast through a couple of rooms, and even if he drops in a room, his 7 life all but guarantees he'll make it through a Second Wind roll.

Jotun's a ton of fun, but you've got to use him in the right situations.
