Re: The Book of Deathreavers

If Me-Burq-Sa is able to use paralyzing stare on a Deathreaver, do the other Deathreavers get to scatter?

Its a normal attack, but the Deathreaver rolls no defense dice against the attack. My guess is that the Rats do not scatter in this instance.

Re: The Book of Deathreavers

You are correct. For scatter to work defense dice must be rolled.

I love Gruts (and other disengagers) against them, b/c you can just walk away from them. That is perhaps the best way to deal with Rats...
You nailed it! I played a game this afternoon against my brother's favorite army (Q9, Airborne, Rats x3 + 90pts of whatever), and, thinking I was quite clever, I countered his with Moriko, Kumiko, and 3 squads of Quasatch. In the end, all my hunters had accomplished was helping the rats get into position, with my ninja chicks dealing out most the damage!

So if you know your opponent's going to throw rats in your way, many frustrating defeats have taught me that you'd ought to bring unit which can Disengage, and special attacks (particularly those that can affect multiple figs) are an absolute must!

I have never played with or against rats.
I repeat: I have never played with or against rats.

Butt then again, we normally play for fun, and I;m am just now starting to build competitive armies, and trust me, rats are now on my "must draft" list.

Make sure to bring some Advil with you. Not only are they a headache to play against but I get a splitting headache if I use them, ha.

Don't worry, I plan on using the rats. I'm working on a build for a good army. My enemies will need the Advil, and I dont think I'm nice enough to bring it for them.

Re: The Book of Deathreavers

Got myself two units of these yesterday, after spending a year woefully underestimating them.

Rats x 2 80
Protectors x2 300
Stingers x2 420
10th reg 495

against

Crixus 90
Capuan Gladiators 160
Spartacus 360
Rhogar Dragonspine 470

My opponent doesn't have much of a collection, and he had nothing really to counter my range or rats. Once the rats had got Crixus and his gladiator cohorts fixed, the protectors and stingers moved into place and just shot him to pieces. Crixus went down in two turns, Spartacus didn't even manage that. My opponent was unhappy and declared the rats to be so annoying that he would have to buy a few units himself.

Del.

Also: First post. Go me.

Welcome to the site ReverendDel.

Rhogar isn't much of a counter, but he would have had the best chance against rats with his Dragonbreath Special Attack(it doesn't trigger Scatter).

I'm definitely picking up these guys finally with the sale on house mouse games. Oh, and Otonashi needs to be added under the synergy section.

Re: The Book of Deathreavers

The rats look pretty cool, but I do not see what makes them that good. Perhaps this is because I play games with bigger point armies. The only real use I have for them is glyph grabbing and tying down units to snipe. Is there any other use of them I am missing that might make them better in my eyes?

Add in using them to control choke-points in smaller maps and as screens for such units as Fen Hydras, I think you've about covered their usefulness. Those four functions, though, (glyph grabbing, engagement distraction, choke-point holding, and screening) are simply huge in any serious, tournament style game.
