Dungeon!
Okay, I've been thinking of trying to get a copy of this game. This was the game that turned me to the dark side. When I was a kid a friend's older brother had a copy and one day he let me play. Truth be told, that was the only time I ever played it for a variety of reasons, but I kind of have romantic feelings toward the thing. So I must ask: is the game any good? I really don't remember how it plays at all. I don't want to blow $30 on ebay (or however much it is) if it's actually boring to play. Anybody? Also is the re-make (Classic Dungeon) any better then the original?

It's good if you have kids to play it with. As an adult game it does not hold up. I recommend the version with the blue box that depicts some mounted heroes on the cover.

I think Ninthdoc plays this with his son. You might pester him.

I play the original version with my son (7 y.o.a.). He loves it. He also likes the D&D Fantasy Adventure Board Game (but this is a $40-$100 investment).
He gets bored playing advanced Heroscape (but can handle the basic game). Dungeon! moves fast enough for him. I'd highly recommend it if you have kids. It does get tiresome for adults, though, but I got it because of the memories and found that my son will play it w/me. As a matter of fact, it's set up in my gameroom right now from some games this past weekend. Hey, WotC, SIZE MATTERS!

Hmm. I may pass then unless I see a really good deal. Ideally I'd like to find a dungeon crawl boardgame that's not quite as involving as something like WHQuest or Descent, but maybe has a bit more (from what I'm hearing) then Dungeon!.

This was only sold in the UK and Europe and is out of print. My 7 year old loves it. I enjoy it, too. Hey, WotC, SIZE MATTERS!

Have you heard of Dungeoneer, Mr Bistro? It's a really easy to learn/fun to play dungeon crawl card game (you make the board/dungeon as you play with map cards). It's also very inexpensive.

Malechi, you'll never believe this but I had Heroquest. But when I started getting into other games, I *shudder* cannibalized my Heroscape set for bits. Oh the folly! $10 you say? Now that's better then I ever imagined. I'll have to look into that as well. JJ, I have heard of Dungeoneer, and have seriously considered it, but I think I'm going to avoid it. I'm a compulsive collector, and am trying to avoid more games which will compel me to "buy everything." Thanks for all the tips guys! |

As for Dungeoneer, I can vouch for its playability. It does have many expansions (and continuing to grow), but they are quite inexpensive when purchased through Cardhaus or Thoughthammer (although offline at this point as of this morning) for around $13 each plus shipping. Of course, this does not include the pewter figures coming March 2007 Just because you're offended, it doesn't make you right.
