margins of winning
Me and my friends have always played where we count up the total life of all units at the end of the game to see who wins and by how much. I know that the rulebook suggests you count up the total points of all units no matter how damaged they are. I was wondering if our way seems like a viable method of tallying the margin of defeat or if we're completely mental. The reason being, if charos and a squad of vikings were the last units on the map, and charos killed the last viking with only one life remaining, Charos's team would win with 210 points no matter how awesomely close the end scenario was. The only time it doesn't make sense is with someone like DW9, he is expensive and only has one life. No one seems to care or pick him anyway so....

I agree you should count wounds toward victory (or against victory as the case may be). If you work hard to give charos 8 wounds, you deserve the points.

it would be harsh if your opponent beat you with braxas and jotun, both at one life

If you score that way, you'll probably get a better representation of the closeness of a game. I think the rules are written the way they are mainly because it would involve lots of dividing and multiplying that probably were not originally intended for 8-10 year olds (or whatever the initial target audience was). Besides this though, there are a few flaws with scoring that way...a few figures don't mind being wounded and might perform better that way...Krug immediately comes to mind.

Yeah, a battle where Dan was the only thing left (with 1 life) comes to mind, sigh,
My mind is the Pink Zippo that sits on top of a pack of Camel Wides. |

But what about units with 1 life and a lot of defense (Deathwalkers) You will not be able to judge the amt. of life left based on that. I think that the units have an average number of attacks they can survive (based on defense and life) and if you count the amount of life those units have lost, you would have to count the amount of unsucessful attacks against a 1 life figure as well.

I don't understand why people always bring up Deathwalkers when it comes to the scoring system where you award points based upon damage. Obviously since they only have 1 life that they are worth their full points until they are destroyed, seems simple to me.
