How I got started playing HS

Funny story? Nah, I don't think so, but I'm glad it happened this way.

Believe it or not, a buddy and I while working one day said,

Zangtwo: We need to play something I'm bored.
Sev_: Ya you ain't lying, don't you have some MTG cards?
Zangtwo: Ya but I only have one deck. You should buy a deck.
Sev_: Nah, thats not gonna happen. Why don't we play a board game?
Zangtwo: With what?
Sev_: I dunno, get me some cardboard and some paper.
Zangtwo: Why?

5 minutes later, we have a GIANT sized chess board and paper that was labeled; Warrior 1, Warrior 2, Wizard 1, Wizard 2, etc.

Sev_: Alright, lets play tomorrow, you got some dice?
Zangtwo: Ya.

Next day.

Sev_: You bring the dice?
Zangtwo: Ya.
We give the paper pieces stats. We then play for about 4 hours, while working mind you.
Sev_: Man this sucks, I got some Mage Knight figures at home, I'll bring 'em tomorrow.

Another day goes by.

Zangtwo: Ahh, these are tight.
Sev_: Ya, I labeled 'em on the bottom of their bases, and put which team they'd be on.

We proceeded to play for most of the day and the next couple of days after that. While browsing the internet for cooler stats and what not, I stumbled upon something crazy, HeroQuest! I forgot about this game and it made our silly little board game that much more exciting. We played once more after I found that information. Then something happened while searching for more HeroQuest stuff, I find myself wondering what "Heroscape" is. I think to myself, man this looks retarded, but then I begin to read more and more about the way it worked. I was very surprised to see that it had some semblance of HeroQuest, but with MORE figures, interchangable terrain, and expansions. I then proceed to talk with my buddy.

Sev_: Oh **** son, you need to check this out.
Zangtwo: What is it?
Sev_: Its a miniature game, its only $39.99, lets go half on it.
Zangtwo: Nah I wanna look into it more.

Two weeks go by.

Sev_: Alright, you still didn't look at it, but check this out, they got it on special right now, buy 1 get 1 1/2 off. Thats a steal.
Zangtwo: I'll think about it.
Sev_: I'm telling you its the next best thing!
To make a long story short, he went half on it, and thats how it all started.

Anyone else got a story they'd like to share?

Well I use to play HeroQuest with my little cuzin when hes over on the holidays (9years now, started when 6)... we only got a few missions done, but he is almost done with the main game book... I however Get bored always being the game master, cant really do anything challenging... because of this when he asked were to get heroquest I just told him to get HeroScape instead... he did... and hes addicted to it, and now I bought some so he does not have to drive it across contry in car, or fly it on plane! lol. I treat him sort of as my own kid...

I had seen Heroscape in Wally world quite a few times and wanted to play it but didn't have the money to spend on it. I was at my Father-in-law's house about five months ago and we were talking about board games( marvel board games actually). He went out to his shop and brought in Heroscape and I told him that I wanted to play it. He told me it was a long process to set up and he had only played it a couple of times. I told him I would set it up if he would play with me. I now own everything that has been released for Heroscape except Sir Hawthorn, and most things I own multiples. I also have black-holed everyone in the community to play with us everyweekend. And I also found the money to pay for it all that I so easily thought I didn't have for a board game =)

Al: " oh, thats heroscape, its a little war game my dad, me and my brother bought, it's pretty fun if ya want to give it a whack.
