Well, if you don't want to know the rules for using the road, molten lava, lava field, ice, snow, trees, jungle trees, etc., then no, you don't need them.

Ah ok yeah i guess i'll need that stuff eventually heh. Kind makes me wish there was just a single "Core Rulebook" that had it all in one.

A lot of us would like, even be willing to pay for, such a full rule book.

By the way, Troy Spiral, let me say how much I appreciate your posting as you become involved in this site. It's very nice to have an articulate and thoughtful new member.

And as near as I can tell, he hasn't even played yet! What a big difference a little punctuation and grammar can make.

On the plus side, most of the rules (with the exception of a few castle-related problems) are fairly simple and easy to assimilate once you get used to the game.

It is true, Jexik, that I am biased in favor of articulate writing. That is why I like your posts too. <smiling happily to himself>

Thanks for the friendly comments guys. I do know what you mean.

In terms of HS itself, I'm pretty gung-ho about it. I've played only a handful of full games (and none with the actual figures yet - Just played on hex graph paper with none of the special abilites) Although i just got an email from Hasbro saying basically that RotV and several expansions are on their way. Yay.

My grammar and spelling are pretty bad, but i at least try to be readable and attempt to break up my run-on sentences and spellcheck my posts regularly heh.

I've been a longtime frequent user of message boards and admin one here in Detroit for the last 6 years. The bull-in-china-shop people that show up, make no attempt to get a feel for conventions or culture/rules of a community, then make nearly indecipherable posts or text-walls with no paragraphs is a bit difficult to take.

Be nice, try to make your points clear as possible... how hard is that? :P

I sent an Email to Hasbro asking if there was a way to get an "offical" SotM PDF file rulebook the same way that they have some of the other stuff available on the website.

First thing that i thought was odd was that Hasbro sent me to WotC. I asked about that too.

Here's what i got in response:

Quote:
Hi there Troy,

Thank you for contacting Wizards of the Coast game support!

Heroscape isn't technically a WotC product, rather it is created by our parent company, Hasbro. However, Wizards of the Coast already has several successful collectible miniatures games and we have the support infrastructure to handle such games. It was decided that WotC was better suited to provide game support for Heroscape.

Unfortunately we do not have the ability to provide replacement game parts for pieces that have been lost or damaged after purchase. Luckily I can direct you to a pdf of the rules.

While the Swarm of the Marro rulebook is not available for pdf download from the main Heroscape site at this time, there is an extensive fan site called www.heroscapers.com that does have pdf versions of the rules on its forums. I will provide a link to that specific forum below.

http://www.heroscapers.com/community...read.php?t=432

If you have any more questions please feel free to respond!

Take Care and Good Gaming!

Funny they sent me HERE for a PDF =P Kinda nice to know that actual hasbro employees are aware of this website and know enough about it to know what is available here.

That's both hilarious and awesome.

Next thing you know we're going to get a really tough rules question in the Official Rules forum. After debating to a standstill, we decide to send it in to WotC, at which point the OP replies with, "umm... I can pretty much assure you we.. I mean they, they don't know the answer..."

Just won a really dirt cheap rulebook Lot auction from Ebay with these here:

SotM
RotV
Forrest
Lava
Ice
Castle
Marvel

(not that i really needed this since there are the PDFs and i should have everything except Marvel and Castle within a few weeks anyway... but the rulebook paper is nicer than what i'd print out and it was only $8 total)

Theres nothing else is there rulebookwise?

Thanks. =)

I think im going to take Castle, Lava, Ice , Forrest and 3rd and get them spiral bound and the front and back covers laminated all in one book at Kinkos at some point here. Little rule "booklets" flapping around annoy me heh.
