Decarion Warrior - Pre-Auggies Discussion
The figure used for this is a D&D Ophidian figure


Left box stats:
Species - Decarion (like it's title)
Common hero - One man
Class/Personality - Warrior/Loyal, I used the Greenscale Warriors as my guide

Right box stats:
Life - 1
Move - 6
Range - 1
Attack - 3
Defense - 2
Price - 20

Special Abilities:
Dragonborn Subservience - A power that fits the Decarion Warrior into Aquila's army usefully and gives him a boost from Rhogar.

Scale Sword - A nice defensive bonus.

Hmmm That's one of the minis I considered doing. I don't have the mini, But I'd say small 3. In Dragonborn Bonding, I believe dragonborn Should be capitalized. In Scale Sword, you spelled Defense with 2 fs Also, The wording in Scale Sword seems backwards to me.... I think it should read, "When a Decarion Warrior is attacked by a adjacent figure, add one to hie defense dice." Just my

Well, actually;

(Dismiss the Rabble) "When rolling defense dice against adjacent attacking small or medium figures, a Decarion Warrior receives 1 additional defense die."

or

(Insubstantial 3) "A Decarion Warrior adds 1 additional defense die when rolling defense against an attack from an adjacent small or medium figure."

or

(Melee Defense 1) When rolling defense dice against an attack from an adjacent small or medium figure, a Decarion Warrior adds 1 die.

As you can see, the designers didn't think this through so well.
I would use the last or middle wordings--The last one is shortest, and the middle one is newest.

Well, you can't call it Melee Defense 1, because that's a different power. I was just referencing which power the wording was adapted from--those aren't the exact wordings of the powers. Melee Defense 1 (Gladiatrons) works against all figures, not just Small & Medium.

Do you want to be able to turn with any Dragonborn, or just a hero? with the current wording, if a Dragonborn squad were to come out, you could take a turn with 1 squad figure. I think it should be changed to Dragonborn Hero. I don't really like the name of the Lesser Melee Defense, I think you should change it back to Scale Sword.

I like the simplicity of the unit.

I agree with boromir96 that it should be Dragonborn Hero, just to be safe.

I don't really get why this little guy bonds with Dragonborn, other than the reptilian look. But it's no big deal either way.

What's strange about this guy is that you always want to leave one deep in your starting zone. Sending them all out (or just the one if you only have one) leaves you wide open for losing order markers; it's a lot easier to kill this guy than to kill the existing dragonborn hero. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but is that the intention of the design?

I envisioned (I would put it in his bio) a lackey for the dragonborn, like a lower down species, but one that was smart enough to help. Also, with their low point cost (which might change, but wouldn't be much higher), they make a nice filler common hero (which Aquilla is lacking).

I will put up a revised draft with the recommended changes soon (maybe even tonight, if I get time).

The biggest change is to Dragonborn bonding, where I re-worded it to 'kind of' show the lower rank.

The wording for dragonborn bonding is terrible. It allows you take a turn with one of these after taking a turn with a dragonborn though some other form of bonding, which could be introduced in a later c3/sov unit. You should probably use the standard "after revealing an order marker" language.

After taking a turn with any Dragonborn Hero you control you may immediately take a turn with a Decarion Warrior you control.

Is a better way to word your power as is Fi but I agree with personwholives there is a huge potential for a bonding chain here which is something usually avoided.
