Initial playtest is done as I just added army test 2 to the test sheet. These guys are hard to nail down exactly as they can be really nasty against some heroes, but be less than spectacular against some ranged squads. With proper ranged support and even flyers in some cases with lots of height, these guys can be real nasty if they can get their hands on their enemies.

It can help get them to height sure. Though they will have to be in the right spot near John Stewart beforehand and if his Battery Markers are down, it makes it less effective to carry 1 GCW than 3. Then John and the GCW will be grouped together and ripe for area of effect attacks (Smilex Bomb would be nice). John will still get his attack, but you'd likely want it timed right to have the GCW have the next OM so they can move out and do their business.
So in other words, the Basket Carry can be really helpful for sure on maps with height, but some things can be contingent on the opponent's units and OM timing. If the opponent has a bunch of single attacking HH's, then things would be better for GCW, but if the opponent has multiple attacking HH's and/or lots of ranged squaddies (3 or 4 man squads better than 2 man Skrull Warrior squads), then it can be a long day for the GCW. 125 is looking great for them. Here's my pre-emptive yea for playtesting at that cost.

Hmm... these guys do seem REALLY powerful with the right conditions, but with the right counter should be beatable. I think it's fair enough to see how they stack up in playtests. So once the right amount of time has elapsed we'll bring 'em forward.

I agree Johnny, these guys are scary dangerous in certain situations, but do have some counters, particularly cheap ranged squads and heroes with special defenses. Against low or high priced single attacking melee heroes they can be deadly for sure. Now the bonding with Simians was nice to bring Grodd along from the SZ. At some point you have to put an OM on Grodd to get to use CC16, but then when Grodd is close enough to engage an opponent, it does help to have an extra huge attack come in for an attack. Now I don't know what other Simian heroes are planned to come out and have bonding with these guys. If there's a ranged Simian Hero that will certainly help them out and make them more dangerous. Ultimately these guys are going to be ones that you will want pay attention to when building an army to go against. But if you have these guys in your army, you also have to recognize that they may need some specific support to help them against their counters. Yeah, I don't imagine they would be any more powerful than someone like Wolverine or Deadpool - both of which can tear an army apart in minutes if not dealt with correctly. But easily counter-able if you're any good at planning.
The only Simian I can think of with range would be Mallah, and since he is (or likely will be) very Brain-dependent, it should be fairly balanced. Anyone else would probably need consideration for sure. ULTIMATE UPCOMING HEROCLIX INFO THREAD

My Chimp Common squad write-up has them having a Poop Throwing Special Attack, but they are common and not affected by Simian Bonding.
