TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

Once again we will be at TotalCon in February and we are planning something special this year.

Event Listing Below

I have 3 "One Day Admissions" to give away and here is how you can win one.

We are going to go with an all new set of maps for the weekend and we need you to design them..but here is the catch...

You need to design 2 maps in one Virtual Scape file...the maps should be laid out with a space of 3-4 hexes between the two maps. You then need to send the actual Virtual Scape file to us at RacNRollGaming@gmail.com.

Why such a strange request? Because nyys and I are going to fill in the space between the two maps for the team event on Sunday.

For each set of maps you can use...2 master sets + 3 smaller expansions.

Top 3 entries will receive a free one day admission. If you are not coming but still want to enter you can just tell us who you would like to get the free one day admissions.

More details will be coming regarding events/costs/other game events we are running etc.

Direct all questions to me at RacNRollGaming@gmail.com

Thanks

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

Sorry for the delay...I know you are all waiting with bated breath

Here is this years event line-up

Friday

Heroscape: Traditions and Customs (4 rounds-450 points) 10am-2pm $3
Players armies can be constructed using both official non-Marvel figures and approved C3V and SoV customs.

Heroscape: Secret Identity (4 rounds- 450/600 points) 3pm-7pm $3

Players armies must contain at least 1 hero at the start of the game and total no more than 450 points. There will be an objective that needs to be reached and once you reach it that hero will reveal his secret identity and become one of the Marvel or C3G approved superheroes/villains for the remainder of the round. Your superhero/villain cannot be more than 150 points more than your hero he is replacing. Rule clarification: Your 450 point army must be the same for all 4 rounds but your superhero can change as well as which of your heroes has the secret identity. Before the round begins you will place a sticky note on the back of the card of the transforming hero with the name of their super hero counterpart.
Announcement regarding the Secret Identity event

Do not worry if you do not have the figure for the C3G hero you want to use. I have about 200+ Heroclix figures that I am in the process of rebasing that I can lend you for the event. You will though need to print and bring your own cards. The figures again do not need to be the same sculpt as the ones used for C3G but they need to be of the same character.

First come first served on these...which also means that if you ask for a figure you better use it so as not to block someone else from using it.

Nightfall there will be 4 Learn To Play sessions throughout the day and a 16 player 3 round single elimination event that evening. 7pm-11pm $1.50

Saturday

Heroscape: Mixed Bag Championship (9 ROUNDS!!!!-450 points-no Marvel unless stated otherwise) 10am-7pm $4.50

Yes you read that correct..9 ROUNDS of Scape...(ok it's only 9 rounds if you make the final table but it is at least 6 Rounds for everyone)

For the first 5 rounds we will draw from a hat one of the following formats before each round begins...

General Wars (all units from the same General)
Above Cursed Lands (all non-flying units roll for damage at the end of each round)
Walk Like a Man (no flying allowed)
Uncommon (no common squads or heroes)
We Don't Need Another Hero (army can contain only 1 hero)
Raelin's Aura (details to follow)
Call of Cthulu (details to follow)
Power of One (one Marvel hero can be included in your army)
World Wars (all units must be from the same home world

For the 6th round we will be playing...

Rise of the Fallen Players must construct an army using ONLY the units they lost in previous 5 rounds <evil>

The top 8 after round 6 will move on to the final 3 single elimination rounds

Round 7 will be...

Leader's Choice Higher ranked player at each map will select one of the Mixed Bag formats to play.

Rounds 8 and 9 will be Vanilla Scape (as Ollie likes to call it)

You can use the same army for the different Mixed Bag rounds as long as they meet the requirements of the format

Thunderstone there will be 4 Learn to Play sessions throughout the day and a 16 player single elimination event that night. 7pm-11pm $1.50

Sunday

Heroscape: Yours, Mine and Ours Team Tournament (5 Rounds-16 players-450 points per player) 10am-2pm $3.00

This is our twist on a team event. We will be taking the maps used on Friday and Saturday and putting them together to form large battlefields. There will be a distinct "sector line" on each mega-map. Players on the same team control all units on their side/sector of the board. This will add an interesting dynamic to the game as well as keep all 4 players involved in the whole game. Each players army must be General Specific

Ninja: Legend of the Scorpion Clan (2 sessions-8 players per session) 10am-12pm $1.50 and 1pm-3pm $1.50

The night is quiet, but somewhere in the darkness shadows are moving. A ninja and a traitorous samurai sneak into the Lion Clan’s castle, intent on completing their dastardly tasks. Though alert, the Lion guards are as yet unaware that anything is amiss…

This tense standalone game pits the Lion against the Scorpion. As the ninja or the traitor, you will use hidden movement to sneak into the castle, eliminate guards, find your mission objective, and escape. As the guards, you will use your wits and loyal samurai to thwart the sinister Scorpion.

In this exciting new game set in the world of Legend of the Five Rings, you will use your limited resources, wits, and guile to outthink and outmaneuver your opponent. Deductive reasoning, planning, and a little luck will determine whether you triumph or meet your fate at the end of three feet of steel.

Times, pricing, etc is forthcoming so come back for more info

IMPORTANT: ALL EVENTS ARE SLATED FOR 16 SPOTS ONLY..IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON COMING AND PLAYING IN THE EVENTS YOU SHOULD SIGN UP FOR THE EVENTS WHEN THE EVENT WINDOW OPENS...WE MAY BE ABLE TO EXPAND TO 20-24 PLAYERS BUT WE CAN ONLY DO THIS IF WE HAVE CONFIRMATIONS FROM FOLKS THAT THEY HAVE BOUGHT THEIR EVENT TICKETS AND WE ARE INDEED SOLD OUT. THIS ALLOWS US TO NOTIFY THE TOTALCON FOLKS TO OPEN UP THE ADDITIONAL SPOTS AS WELL AS GIVE US TIME TO ENSURE WE HAVE ENOUGH TABLES/MAPS (sorry for all the caps but inevitably someone shows up and gets shut out and then we are scrambling to accommodate them rather than turn them away)

I am so in. I will probably participate in everything. I like Thunderstone, have never played Nightfall, but it looks good. I love the creative formats here.

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

Ok since people have already asked I guess I should just post the info on the 2 "NEW" Formats

Raelin's Aura Army builds may not include Raelin.
In the center of the map there will be a Raelin statue. All figure's within 3 spaces of the Raelin statue will get one additional defense die. The statue has 6 life and 4 defense and can be attacked and destroyed.

Call of Cthulu Similar to the above...a Cthulu Statue will stand in the center of each map. Figures entering into a space that is within 3 spaces of Cthulu will immediately roll 1 die...A skull results in the loss of one attack die for that unit. A shield results in the loss of one Defense die for that unit. A Blank/General Symbol does not affect the unit. Cthulu has 8 life and 4 defense and can be destroyed. Once Cthulu is destroyed all previously affected units go back to full Attack and Defense.

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

It's killing me that I can't participate in the Saturday event. Talk about poor timing for a software update at work.

I'll be there everyday of the Con, just too late to the party on Saturday.

Boston Marathon 4/15/13 3:39:41
Last Race: Old Sandwich Road Race 6/2/13 - Half Marathon 1:46:33

Nice job at the marathon. Jonathan told me you were doing one. Breaking 4:00 is tough. I'll be running Philadelphia Marathon in 3 weeks. I'm hoping to break 3:05.

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

Thanks... was my first. Around mile 23 I hit a wall after keeping up a 8-8.5 minute pace pretty much the whole way. It's really knawing at me that if I kept the pace up, I could have done it 10 minites faster, but my body screamed no more and I slowed significantly. Planning the next one already.

Good Luck in 3 weeks!

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

For anyone who is planning on staying at the hotel, I would suggest booking your rooms early. They will post when the room block opens and give the discount code on the TotalCon website (www.totalcon.com)

I may have room for a couple of people in my room...this will be first come first served so shoot me an email (racnrollgaming@gmail.com) letting me know if you are interested and what nights you will be staying.
I am already accounting for Ollie staying his usual Saturday night and Taeblewalker is usually one of our roommates..but we can squeeze in a couple more if you dont mind sleeping on the floor. If I get enough definites early I will bump my reservation up to a suite.

Re: TotalCon XXIV-Feb 23-26 Mansfield MA

Here is the information from the TotalCon website regarding registration...

Quote:
Pre-registration is available with mail-in form or on-line with paypal.
$30 for the 4 day weekend registration or $10 per day for adults.
$15 for the 4 day weekend registration or $5 per day for children age 6-16.

*Group discounts of $5 off full weekend registrations per person when 5 or
more people pre-register together available by mail-in pre-reg only.

On-site registration is available all 4 days of the convention.
$40 for the 4 day weekend registration or $15 per day for adults.
$20 for the 4 day weekend registration or $7.50 per day for children age 6-16

*Registration includes admission to the exhibit hall, award ceremony, amphitheater, open board gaming, and open video gaming.

Tickets are $1.50 per (two hour) block. Example: a 2 block event will cost $3.00, a 3 block event will cost $4.50.

Event tickets: Event tickets are highly recommended for events and games that you want since seating is often limited and
popular events do sell out. Your seat is guaranteed at the event. If an event gets cancelled, you will receive a generic ticket.
Event tickets are not refundable.

Generic tickets: Generic tickets can be used to fill any open seat at any event. Your seat is not guaranteed. Unused generic
tickets are refundable minus a small re-stocking fee.

Passes: Total Confusion offers a special board game only pass. This allows you to pay one price to participate in all scheduled
board game events and tournaments. The price is $7.50 per day per person. If you want to play a scheduled event in another
area, you will need to purchase a separate event ticket for that game.

Registration/Ticket Desk Hours: The registration area is open Thursday 12pm -11pm, Friday/Saturday 7am - 11pm, and Sunday
7am - 1pm for attendees to pick-up pre-registrations or register/purchase tickets on-site. There will be a table open 7am on
Thursday for the "pre-registration only" early 8am gaming slot. NO REGISTRATIONS will be processed until 12pm on Thursday.

Redeeming Prize Room Day or Weekend Certificates:

1. Online Registration:
If registering online, an attendee will need to pay the reg fee. In the comment section they should notify us that they have a
certificate with the certificate number. We will then check our records and if verified, we will refund the appropriate reg fee (weekend
or day) via paypal. However, the attendee will still need to bring the certificate to the convention to turn in when they pick up their
badge. If I am unable to confirm the certificate number, they will be reimbursed onsite when they turn the certificate picking up their
badge.

2. Mail in Registration:
If registering by mail, the attendee may discount their registration and must submit the certificate with their registration paperwork.

3. Onsite Registration:
If registering onsite, the attendee may just bring the certificate with them and present it at the time of registration to received their
discount.

Registration questions can be forwarded to Michelle Graham at michelle@totalcon.com
