I've edited the first post. I didn't put the address just yet, I want to make sure that the event is finalized. I'm stopping by the location on Saturday, and hopefully the owner will be there (it'll be the only chance I'll be able to get to stop by). If not, I'll talk to the two employees I know and pass along the pertinent info to the owner (which they will do).

Yeah, Battle of the Bulge will allow turtling....good point.

I like Turn the Tables, not sure about the other two. Though, Hot Foot could make things really interesting to say the least.

Good news and bad news.

Good news. The tournament will still be on August 20th, and the tournament will still be the same format, point total, and have achievements.

Bad news. The location will probably change. This is due to a number of reasons, but the owner wanted to charge everyone an entry fee which would go towards my friend's medical expenses. If we're doing the bring a prize, take a prize structure...I don't want people forced to feel that they had to also pay a fee. I know times are tough in this economy, and I don't want to put any pressure on anyone.

Better news. I have another alternate location. There's plenty of space, and tables. It is also a bit closer than Warwick to those of you in Massachusetts and elsewhere.

Bad news. Parking kind of sucks.

Random format thought: why not make achievements the sole secondary criterion? So players get ranked first by win/loss record and then players with the same record are separated by how many achievements they've, um, achieved.

Random etiquette comment: I think that double (and triple) posting is fine, and much better than editing, when you have new information to add. I didn't see your edits until now when I came to the thread after seeing your comment in the northeastern events thread.

Also, I'm still a maybe, and will unfortunately remain so up until the week of the event (unless I become a "no" sooner than that, which I hope I won't).

I do like the look of Dignan's map. I'll have to try it out this week.

And Ollie, yeah I kind of wanted to avoid constantly double/triple/quadruple posting. I didn't want to tick off the mods. I know they would have understood (I hope), but I still didn't want to take the chance.

Is there any definite list of what's going to be played for maps at GenCon yet, or is it still up in the air?

The mods generally won't bother New Englanders in a thread about a New England event. Anyone reading the thread wants the new information, so wouldn't be ticked off.

The GenCon maps are right here (scroll down a bit)

For this event I'm still a 70% chance- we'll have a German student staying with us for a year, and it might be a good opportunity for my dad to show him Providence; it's a little too early to get him hooked on Heroscape tournaments.

And, most importantly, there's no reason for anyone to be "ticked off" anyway because posting when you have something new to say is perfectly acceptable regardless of whether you were the last person to post in the thread.

Why are the maps used at GenCon a big deal to everyone? I'd rather play on maps everyone (or at lerast you Mombo) thinks is/are fun rather than maps that are chosen because they're ocmpetitive.
