Nightfall: Gabriel's story
Hey guys, yes I know it's a cheesy name, but this is the (hopefully) much awaited story featuring Gabriel Forgione. I'll still try to continue my Zombie story but I have the first two chapters written for this so I decided to post it now. It's a little short but here's the first chapter.
“Who are you?” The woman was obviously scared, and screaming and crying could be heard in the background. “I am here to help. Please step aside.” A tall broad man with long brown hair and shining silver armor walked briskly through the small hut. He stopped in shock as he witnessed the source of the commotion. A small boy, no more than seven, was shrieking and hissing at terrified onlookers, who must’ve been his family and friends. His eyes glowed red and he moved around with unnatural swiftness. “Son, what has taken a hold of you?” the man spoke in a calm but firm tone. The boy paused and observed the man, sizing him up. Then, he let out a horrific scream and lunged at him. The man, however, was prepared and grabbed him. No matter what was going on, this creature still had the strength of a small child, and the man easily restrained him. “Look at me.” He said. The boy twisted and writhed but could not free himself. Instead he spit at the man. “LOOK AT ME!” he shouted, and he stared straight into the red eyes of the child. He could sense that something had taken this child and would not let him go without a fight. The man placed the child on a small bed and took a small steel crucifix out of his bag. He held it in an outstretched arm a foot above the child’s chest and said, “Stay right here.” The child stay put, but only for a moment. Then he rolled to the side and tried to fall off the bed. The man caught him at the edge and yelled, “Leave demon, by the power of Christ!” The boy’s chest surged upwards momentarily, but then he continued to squirm. “I say leave! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost!” The boy’s eyes shut, then reopened and looked normal. Then, a huge black mist shot out of the boy’s chest, and he lay motionless on the bed, but still breathing. His family wept out of relief and his mother flung herself onto him. The man still stood over him, watching him to make sure nothing else happened to him. Satisfied after a minute or two, he began to walk out. “But wait!” The boy’s mother, a very petite woman that was dwarfed in comparison to him, grabbed his arm as he pushed the door open. “How can I thank you?” She asked timidly while wiping away tears. The man smiled warmly down at her. “All is well. You owe me nothing.” He began to walk out, but the woman persisted. “Can you at least tell me who you are?” The man turned around, his silver armor shining radiantly in the sun. “Ma’am, I am Gabriel Forgione. I am a servant of God.” |

Re: Nightfall: Gabriel's story
Thanks everyone
Gabriel strolled down the dirt road, observing the hustle and bustle of a small village in the Weston district of Jandar’s kingdom. Gabriel himself was one of the warriors of Weston, a humble paladin. When he was not called upon for battle he handled disputes and conflicts in the villages. But what he had seen before was unlike anything he had seen before. He was experienced, and knew how to handle himself, but it still troubled him. He had never seen something like that from Utgar, and he could only assume that some other evil was at work. He furrowed his brow as he contemplated this grim possibility. Suddenly, he noticed that it was getting quite dark. The street had also become considerably quieter and more deserted than when he had first set out. Gabriel decided it was best to just head back to the castle, so he set a quick pace and began making his way to the base of the large hill that the Castle of Weston was perched on top of. A chill came over Gabriel as he reached the hill. To his left was a small forest, and he felt like something deep inside it was watching him. “Hello Gabriel.” A cold whisper alerted him to the presence of a man clothed in a black robe that covered his body so that Gabriel could not tell who it was or even if it was a man. “Who are you?” he asked, trying to sound confident. “That… is not important. I require… your services.” Gabriel put his hand on his sword. “Who are you and what do you want?” “Calm down… I have come because I can make you powerful Gabriel. I can… give you whatever you want.” Gabriel did not like the sound of this, because he felt this thing was not his friend. “In return for what?” “Fight…for me…Gabriel. Renounce these foolish beliefs and practices and I can make you strong and wealthy beyond your wildest dreams.” Gabriel stepped forward and drew his sword. “No! I would rather kneel at the feet of the Lord than dwell in the house of the mighty.” The cloaked figure laughed. “Gabriel… you speak without thought. You are a mere paladin. I can give you the power to move mountains, to cut down all in your way, to rule over Valhalla…If you fight with me and help me take down Jandar.” Gabriel stepped forward again and spoke loudly. “Begone demon! I have no use for your wicked deception!” The figure smiled and two jagged, pointy teeth shone before it shot up and flew away in the moonlight. Gabriel stared after him, worried. He was right. Something evil was at work. |

Re: Nightfall: Gabriel's story
This fic is something completely different form the others. I wish I had thought of this idea before. Unless you kill off Gabriel in the end, could I use him sometime?

Re: Nightfall: Gabriel's story
Well, here's the next part. Sorry for the delay; I must've re-written this chapter two or three times before I finally got the version I wanted. The other two rushed into the main plot way to quickly but I'm pretty happy with this. Hope you like it! Any feedback is appreciated.
“You have to tell Denrick,” stated Virgil firmly. Virgil was a guard in the Weston district and a good friend of Gabriel, who had just revealed everything he had experienced the day before. “Something is not right here at all and considering he’s the guy in charge he should know about it just in case. I would try to talk to him as soon as possible.” Gabriel nodded, not speaking because his mouth was full of fruit. It was breakfast time, after all. “I’ll see what I can do about it today,” he said, swallowing. “I don’t want this to wait either.” A tall, broad Sentinel carrying a shining silver hammer stood between Gabriel and Sir Denrick, the leader of Weston District. “And I said NO.” said Ezekiel, the Sentinel. “You don’t understand. This is a grave matter and I think he needs to know about it as soon as possible,” replied Gabriel urgently. Ezekiel was visibly annoyed. “Well you can’t see him anyway because he’s not here right now. He’s been a bit under the weather these past few days so he’s recovering in an infirmary. He’ll be back in a day or two. Then you can schedule an appointment.” Ezekiel put emphasis on these last words so that hopefully Gabriel will catch on. “But it looks like one of your little friends wants you.” Ezekiel pointed one of his large fingers in the direction of Virgil, who was standing in the hall, observing the conversation. “Gabriel, we need you down in one of the villages. One of the kids again.” Gabriel and Virgil ran down the dirt road to a crowd of people that had gathered around a small cottage. Reaching the crowd, Gabriel quickly pushed his way through, saying, “Excuse me, I have to get through. I can help the child!” After a couple minutes of pushing, he opened the door of the cottage and walked inside. A woman standing against the wall dabbed her eyes with a cloth and pointed in the direction of loud shrieking. “We were told you would come. H-he’s in there.” Gabriel nodded and smiled at the woman to try to make her feel better, but it didn’t seem to give her any comfort. He grabbed his cross out of its pouch and stepped inside the room. CRASH. A 10 year old boy with suprising force leapt onto a surprised Gabriel and knocked him on his back. “Ow…What’s gotten into you child?” He asked, grabbing the boy by the arm while getting up. The boy hissed and plunged his teeth into Gabriel’s hand, drawing blood. “Ah!” yelled Gabriel in pain while letting go of the boy. The boy used this chance to jump backwards out of Gabriel’s reach and stand on the bed, growling. His blood red eyes observed Gabriel as he began to speak in the same voice that the creature that spoke to Gabriel the previous night had used. “You should have taken my offer…Gabriel…You have brought much suffering to the people you vowed to protect!” |
