First flagbearers battle report
Not going into a lot of detail here, but played two 500 point games on Forsaken Waters this afternoon/evening with four of the five flagbearers. Six hexes were added to both side of the board to bring start zones up to 24 each.
First game: Vydar vs. Jandar Second game: Utgar vs. Ullar First game: Vydar army: Flagbearer Nakitas Gorillinators James Murphy Agent Car Jandar army: Flagbearer Knights x2 4th Mass x 2 Shotgun Sullivan Tarn Viking Warriors This was a spanking. Jandar beat the crap out of Vydar. How did the flagbearers do? The Vydar Flagbearer's special attack allowed him to shoot twice in the whole game. I was playing Vydar and rolled pretty bad the whole game, but I don't think it would have mattered. The Vydar flagbearer could have probably used a better army. Since I used the Gorillinators to try and sieze glyphs (they did) the range didn't really work as well as it could have, but it was useful. Overall impression of Vydar Flagbearer, probably the worst of the four we played. Jandar's flagbearer caused much pain. My impression is that he will allow a Jandar army to challange an Orcish horde. A knight made it all the way from one edge of the board to the other because of him. Impressive. His aura only affected two attack rolls the whole game, but Vydar steered clear of him. I'm really impressed with Jandar's flagbearer and must say he performed the best of any we played. Game 2: Utgar army: Flagbearer Nerak Swog Riger Arrow Gruts x 3 Blade Gruts x 2 Krug Ullar Army: Flagbearer Morsbane Warriors of Ashra x 3 Aubrian Archers x 2 This was close early on, but the Orcish Horde proved too much. But how did the flagbearers do? The Orcish flagbearer I thought would be game breaking. I thought going in, like the orcish horde needed help. Maybe with different uniques it would have been different, but he didn't overpower this army. Now his boost to blade gruts proved pretty useless agianst the Warriors of Ashra. His double bonding ability came into play only twice in the game. Helpful yes. A little difficult to use. The limitation of only having bonding work with the first order marker makes this not as big a deal as it seems. Again with different uniques and against something other than the warriors he could make it uglier. I feel the more army points used, the stronger he is. As for the Ullar flagbearer, the movement came in pretty handy several times in the game, especially with the slow moving warriors. He boosted some archers once, too. All these boosts came relatively early in the game when needed the most. Now, for his Save the Elves power. It probably went off in this game more than average. It went off six times, Morsbane once, some warriors and some archers. The elf hero is right now very contraining on the type of army you put together to make the most of him, I think, but I'll give him props as a little better than Ornak (orc flagbearer). Unfortunatley we didn't get to play with Einar. DUND is underestimated and under-rated. |

That's too bad that you didn't get to play with th Einar FB, but the others sound awesome. Cool battle report.

Thank you for getting battle reports up so quickly!!!
But definately re-try the vydar flag bearer with an army that would be good without having him anyways (there's not a lot of love for g'nators on this site). Bring in the KMA and some other units (maybe blastatron/gladiatron). |

Thanks for the BR, I knew the orc one wasnt going to be overpowered, because you could only use that on the first turn, and and the next 2 turns he will only be limited to one special.
great traders: Hilo-scaper and NEMT |

Awesome report. I'm excited to give Jandar's a try. These are definitely some cool figures. I can't wait to see what I can do with the Knights now |

Nice report!
Looking for a way to get casual players involved in Heroscape? Do your opponents lack the interest or knowledge to build/draft their own armies? If so, check out Project 500! |

Dont judge that Vydar Flagbearer to often. Remember, with DW9000 and blastiatrons and the flagbearer, the blastiatrons can have 11!!! range.
Not to mention Major Q9 with a 10 range on his normal attack. I call that some major enhancements |
