Re: A Good Start?

A good start is a couple of pints of Guinness and a beautiful woman who shares your love for games.

Oh...talking about Heroscape.

MS1 and 2 are a GREAT start.

Re: A Good Start?

Welcome Oni!

Yes, Masters 1 & 2 are highly sought after, even by long time 'scapers, so if you've got them, great for you!

Honestly the original MS gives you some iconic and very fun characters. The 2nd MS fills out your squads a little more, and Q10 and the Stingers are still highly ranked units.

I'd say you've got, oh, a decade or so of good gaming in those 2 boxes!

You may start out with that and it is a Great Start!

That's where I started.

But then once you start expanding you can never go back...I was like "I'll just pick up one of these DnD master sets." "Oh and I have to have 2 of these Castle sets!" (Fortress of the Archkyrie - which are still pretty cheap to get at the moment)...you will always be hungry for more. That is why I'm puzzled by the whole "discontinued" thing. Even if it is officially discontinued it actually can't be discontinued. Every time a new mini hits the shelf the customs are proven endless. I just decided I'd like to add Doctor Who to my Heroscape collection

Re: A Good Start?

That is a great place to start. I started with a Marvel master and then soon after I got a RotV master. It all went downhill from there because I bought everything I could get my hands on and I still don't have at least one of everything. One RotV and SotM master sets will keep you busy scaping till you can get more. Adding in new figures to what I have and seeing how they change play is a lot of the fun for me.

Re: A Good Start?

Starting with Master Set 1 & 2 is wonderful. I would recommend getting Waves 1,8, and 12, as they all have a wonderful amounts of great squads and heroes to choose from.
