Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
Not sure when the voting will start. Probably will get in by tonight or in the next morning.
Oh and SoA, sorry about "Pique" and "peek" deal. Was going to fast on writing, wasen't paying attention. Tornado I was also intending for the orignial flagbearer was differnt before Sir Gilbert took the banner. The Original holder was killed and was holding onto the flag and starring at it one last time and the other knight was Sir Gilbert who took it with him. On the Sir Gilbert and Kelda deal in your story, I will consider it a bad dream and was glad that you didn't go into graphic details. I glad you enjoyed it. Also were you interested when I had Drake fought a Raptor rider, thinking of new units added to the Grut ranks? |

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
Oh, so that's why there were several. I thought it was Tornak. I just read your story before dinner, Bro-man, and it was pretty good. The only advice I might have would be to watch the tenses. There were a lot of shifts from present progressive... uh, perfect...something... to past something or other. Other than that, great story.
Oh, and Gatehop, I really liked your story too. It was a fun read, and I'm looking forward to any other entries you put in! My newest Fan Fiction, Dilmir, will be arriving soon. Look for it near the end of May!

I did like the raptors Bro-Man. Like TGRF I envisioned multiple Tornaks. Very cool. I totally understood the flag bearers. I just liked the original better then Gilby. OK AMIS, bring on the judging.

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
I'll finish reading them all this morning and will be judging this morning. The results will be in this afternoon.
Excellent stories by everyone. Last edited by AMIS : October 3rd, 2011 at 08:15 AM. Reason: Where's my glasses? Good trades with - Porkins/xraine69/mac122/frylock |

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
This was tough - wow but I had a rough choice. I read each one several times - not for judging - just because they were great!
Some of these were exactly what I was looking for while others took me down memory lane (which scares me at times). If this had been a 100 yard dash the difference between first and last would have been less than a 100th of a second. First Place
Spoiler Alert!
Second Place
Spoiler Alert!
Third Place
Spoiler Alert!
Honorable Mentions
Spoiler Alert!
Looking forward to the next prompt. Last edited by AMIS : October 3rd, 2011 at 11:51 AM. Reason: This judging stuff's tough! Good trades with - Porkins/xraine69/mac122/frylock |

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
I did see the movie Zulu, that had Micheal Caine in it. I didn't realize at first that I was using that story. Adding a heroscape theme into that battle would be interesting to see so that's why I did this story.
Congrats on the win Tornado! So that makes you how many wins? I know I got one win, two third place wins, and now an honorable mention and- *thinking about it* (Note to self, must keep score on all wins and who won them.) |

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
![]() I did not expect this in the least and hence, I have no prompt in mind. Wow, I am stunned. I knew I wanted zombies and that was about it. The story wrote itself. I feel bad now that I have not read other entries yet. I promise I will get to them all. On the last line spoiler, I would normally never do that AMIS. When re-reading it though I found my eye drawn to brainsss... I did not want the reader reading that early. If it was a book I would have made sure that last line was on the next page. Hmmm, a prompt, a prompt. I am thinking something involving Sudema or Braxas. Let me ponder on this a bit. Hopefully I can get that up in a couple hours, otherwise after work in about four hours or so. That is win number two for me Bro-man. A sudden rise to the top after bottom dwelling for weeks on end. Still sitting here a bit amazed. Also the first half dozen competitions are archived in the Fan Fic Contest Archive thread. Someone actually needs to step up and update that. I think maybe SoA has three wins and no one else more then two. Back to work and thinking about the prompt. ![]() EDIT: Deep in the heart of a forbidden forest a clearing opens. Sunlight pours in to reveal numerous lifelike stone statues. There is no doubt they are of the missing troops that traveled through this area. Someone whispers "Sudema". Basically a search and rescue group goes out trying to discover what happened to their missing troops. Feel free to use whatever heroes and/or squads from whatever General your heart desires. New/original, heroes/squads are also OK. Any questions let me know. Ready, set, go. Last edited by Tornado : October 3rd, 2011 at 03:14 PM.

Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
Hey, congrats Tornado! Not sure what to write in response to this prompt, but my creative juices are definitely flowing...hopefully I can think something up!
Oh yeah, Amis, when I wrote "...as useful as lock picks in a prison cell", I was thinking that they wouldn't be useful in keeping prisoners in...but if you are the prisoner, it certainly would be useful. Sorry for the confusion! -Gatehop Last edited by Gatehop-Quickfingers : October 3rd, 2011 at 05:43 PM. Reason: Must come up with a better simile...or is it a metaphor? I think it's a simile... Re: Fan Fic Contest: Are you the best writer?
So... they go off to find their soldiers, and find the stones? Is that where we pick up? Or do we start at the beginning?

Either way you want to write it is cool with me. It probably could use some set up to lay out out the different characters involved. I left it vague so you could use whoever you want. I hope that helps. Next time I will try to have a prompt in mind in case I win again, this caught me off guard. Good luck everyone, sad to hear no SoA again.
