Reducing spam

Sorry, this isn't really about heroscape, but about this website. I've notice a lot of spam bots lately, and it is mainly because there is no CAPTCHA between the "internet" and posting. You can register and post without a check.

Here is the website for putting in a CAPTCHA into your own website:

http://www.captcha.net/

Sorry for the sort of spam itself, but I didn't really know who to PM about this. Feel free to delete this thread after the appropriate person(s) has seen it.

Re: Reducing spam

Captcha for each post would drive me batty, especially if I typed up a long, thoughtful post, then messed up the captcha. Is there a way to just add captcha or a password to registration? I've been a member of other forums that require a password to register that anyone with a basic understanding of the game knows, or something anyone can find on the site after less than 10 minutes (like "What species is Raelin the Kyrie Warrior?").

Re: Reducing spam

Most Captchas are at registration, not posting.

The only places I've seen with captchas at posting are those that do not have/require a login to post something.

On truth's Summoner Wars website, you have to know who is the summoner of the Cave Goblins, for example.

Dude, Ace is a tennis obsessed, hot-headed cycopath who has a really scary shed in the back of his house that could contain anything.

Re: Reducing spam

Spam is annoying, but unless it is obscene in some way it isn't a big enough deal to warrant a captcha for each post. The members of this site are pretty quick at catching the spammers.

Oh! Roll more skulls! Why didn't I think of that?
