AVENGERS ARRIVE





The figure used for this unit is a Wonder Man figure from the Mutant Mayhem set.
Its model number and name are #040-041 / Wonder Man.
_________________________________________________________________

Character Bio - Simon Williams is the son of rich industrialist Sanford Williams, owner of Williams Innovations. Simon inherits the munitions factory after his father's death, but the company's profits fall due to its biggest competitor, Tony Stark. On the advice of his brother Eric, Simon tries to embezzle funds from his company but is caught and incarcerated. Simon blames Stark for this and accepts the proposition of master villain Baron Heinrich Zemo to infiltrate the Avengers. The desperate Simon Williams agrees and is transformed into an ion-powered being with superhuman powers. His powers are tested, and he is shown to have great superhuman strength and durability. Called Wonder Man by Zemo, he is then sent to meet and join the Avengers, with instructions to betray them at a critical moment so that Zemo's Masters of Evil can destroy the Avengers. The plan fails when Wonder Man decides to save the Avengers at the cost of his own life. Iron Man (Tony Stark) records Wonder Man's brain patterns in the hope that one day he can be revived.

Wonder Man remains in suspended animation for years, and it is during this period that Ultron, the evil robot creation of Henry Pym, steals the brain patterns recorded by the Avengers for use as a template for the synthezoid Vision.

Wonder Man is later "resurrected" as a zombie by Black Talon and the Grim Reaper (his biological brother) to attack the Avengers once more. On the final occasion, the Living Laser hypnotizes a now-awake but still very weak Wonder Man, in an unsuccessful attack on the Avengers. After this encounter, Wonder Man was restored to true life and chooses to remain with the Avengers as a being of ionic energy.

Still, a One Shield Defense esq power ... seems like we can do better. Also, with the word "Tough" in the power, it seems like we should be riffing off that power, not One Shield Defense.
What would you think of a power like this?

When Wonder Man defends against a normal attack, if he rolls at least one shield, add one automatic shield to his roll.

A detriment power with a 10 percent chance of killing my 300+ unit if I fail is a HUGE risk. I am curious if any of you guys would draft him and use that power?

Fyi, Omega Effect would have a 20% of killing W Man if you used the power, not that you have to or would want to, I just thought it was interesting.

I doubt I'd use the power unless it was a situation where Wonder Man took enough wounds to die from the attack. In cases like that, it'd be a nice power to save you 80% of the time or at least get in a last shot on your attacker the other 20% of the time.

OK, the idea is that this guy is really just a Heavy Hitter. He doesn't really have nay special powers that make him different, its more hsi character that makes him interesting. He started as a Villain, then changed over. His brainwaves were used to give the Vision a personality before he himself was resurrected. He used his West Coast Avengers membership to become a movie star (sorta like Hulk Hogan) in B-movies and on TV. He dated Wanda, Tigra, and Ms. Marvel from the Avengers and some other b-list celebrities. Powerwise he is like Thor without the control of weather or a hammer. He has been susceptible to other energies because of his own Ionic biology, which has caused him to seemingly die, become pure energy, increased his strength level.

For the powers, I really like what I have, BUT if you all feel Tough is better I can go with it.

On the second power, I want to make it a must power and that was an oversight. I could see bumping it to 20, but I think for the constant lowering of wounds, 19 or 20 is good.

I just think if "tough" is in the title, it should have mechanics that reflect the official "tough" power (thus my suggestion above). I could probably get on board with what's in the OP currently if the power had a name change, though I am a bit "meh" on powers that only let you take one wound right now after all the Magical Defense as of late.

IONIC IMBALANCE
Whenever Wonder Man would receive more than one wound from a special attack, you must instead roll a 20-sided die. If you roll 1, Wonder Man is automatically destroyed and any figures adjacent to Wonder Man before he is destroyed receive one unblockable wound. If you roll 2-3, place no wounds. If you roll 4 or higher, place one Wound Marker on Wonder Man.

This way the two powers help each other, but this power triggers more frequently, potentially. Keeping it to a single bad roll (1) instead of (19-20) helps keep the odds of it screwing him over down, though. Also, the aesthetic of negative events occurring on low rolls is kept consistent.


C3G can be played with official Heroscape, but it's not recommended.
