Army support for Sudema?

I'm trying to come up with strategies to use Sudema. First, I need to determine who to team her up with. All I have decided thus far is Saylind, for obvious reasons....

My previous attempt did not work so well (Syvaris, Valguard, Tarn and Sudema). Not a complete failure, but that's because the opponents had never played before.

I did a couple of searches, but found very little in all the posts I had to sift through......

Suggestions and strats would be greatly appreciated.

Sudema is a great figure, but not one I would build my army around.

I've found that the best use for Sudema is as a mid- to late-game figure.

I've played the old lady a few times and found that if I brought her out of her start zone too much or too early she got waxed. The undead theme fits well with her as she presents great fear to you opponents. As well she should. I have not played a game against her. Isn't that odd. Those I play against fear the dickens out of her, but never pick her. Hmm..

Anyway, I keep her in the start zone and if any of my opponents figures breech my line or get too close Sudema is the figure that's activated to deal with that. If there is ranged opponents left, she will likely get eaten up.

I like to put the X marker on Sudema every round for every game I play her. That way the opponent never knows when they are going to have to deal with this wild card.

Leaving Sudema until mid and late game also helps adjust for the fact that her special only works on one figure. A squad figure is almost a sure thing. A hero, not so much. If you wait until later in the game and there are some squad figures along the way that's great or she may be used to clean up some lone squad figures that your opponent has left abandoned. Depleted squads are useless in early game, but as the game goes own become stronger the longer they are left around. Sudema can remedy this so that one remaining Marrow Hound that's been sitting in the middle of the board since turn 2 of round 1 won't cause you trouble in the endgame.

Are you referring to the speculation of "Queen Bonding" or something like that with the Ghosts/Banshees? I cannot wait for those--though I hope they have a "wail special attack" or something like that.

Ah, thank you Riggler--nice tactics for her. I'll have to remember that. I did make the mistake of moving her out too early.

Anyone else have some tactics or army support ideas for her?

You know, that is a great idea. Personally, I very rarely play Sudema, mainly because she doesn't fit my play style that often, but more importantly, I don't get to play very often. But the large heroes and the sudden deathers or great figures to put the X on. Like Ne-Gok-Sa. Wait till your opponent has a unique within 10 spaces of him and start throwing the X on him every round. Completely changes how your opponent plays.

I got nuthin...

How about Theracus instead of Saylind?

That would be great, however, I have not been able to purchase RV due to lack of funds--I'm a teacher who's married with 4 children. Money is very tight. I received the MS last Christmas and then bought as many Expansions as I could with gift money I had at the time and I have had lots of fun ever since!

I think Deathreavers are great for somebody like Sudema or Braxas. Have the Deathreavers engage your opponent's figures-- when Sudema starts zapping them, they'll have to decide whether it's better to risk a leaving attack or face Sudema stoney stare. Either way, you have a chance of destroying your opponent's figures without them having a chance to defend.

ElginB, I used that strategy with her and it works VERY well. The only problem is that she got negated, but not after there was a Niflheim-shaped statue in the middle of the battlefield.

gladiatrons work well, anything that ties down opponents long enough for her to get up there and stare, so blastotrons, gladiatrons and sudema should be a good combo.

Try using Sudema first to get your oppenent to come after her. If you walk her with Grimnak you can snack on any squad that comes into range. What you could aslo do is have Sylvarris and/or Dead eye Dan behind her to snipe anyone who moves in range.

Ex. If an oppenent makes it past the stone of stare, you shoot at them. If they engage Sudema, Grimnak should be right there to chomp.
