Re: Legoboy's 5th Grade HeroScape Club
Very cool legoboy. I love watching your battles between you and Canuck. It's also nice to read about the new fifth grade club.
Ever think about bringing more characters to add a variety. That's just me though. |

Re: Legoboy's 5th Grade HeroScape Club
Nice job! Looks really fun. Indy better lose. I want to actually go to a playoff game. You should let them feel out the characters, see who they like, who's good (Krav, Raelin), and who's not (Tarn). Then introduce Wave 1 for some more figures, and let them feel who works with who well, and continue for each wave.

Re: Legoboy's 5th Grade HeroScape Club
We're just keeping the game basic for now as the boys become familiar with the mechanincs of the game and with the figures themselves. Perhaps in the future we will expand on the amount of my figures that I bring in for them to use.
The boys are allowed to bring their own figures from home to use in the game. I know that several of them had asked for 'Scape for Christmas so I am expecting the games to have a little more variety in them in the near future. |

Re: Legoboy's 5th Grade HeroScape Club
Great. I really like the fact that you're spreading 'Scape to younger kids. I've been trying to drag my father into 'Scape, but it hasn't worked... so far.

Sounds cool. Can't wait to see what figures the fifth graders bring to the next meeting.
P.S. Captain Canuck go easy. |

My mom is a little better at order markers but doesn't get the heroscape dialect. If I talk to her about "mittens" or "legos" I think that it's great that you are introducing a lot of new kids to 'scape. Their hopes might be a little crushed that it's been discontinued, though. |

We're back! Christmas 2010 brought some new 'Scape into our members' homes and the boys brought their haul along for a battle this afternoon. Making their first appearances in our games were classic figures like Jotun, Drake (SotM), Major Q10, the Roman Legionnaires and even D&D figs, the Deepwyrm Drow (which I have learned is pronounced like "cow"). In other news, Unnamed Player II now goes by the moniker Mr. Blue.
For today's battles we introduced the Road Through the Forgotten Forest expansion. That's right, we played with little trees and roads on our maps today. Players were introduced to the concepts of keeping melee troops behind available cover while on the approach and to the mechanics of road movement. To put the theory into practice, I selected three maps that make use of trees and roads: Knophree Pass by TOG, Just Passing Thru by Dignan, and the Grass is Always Greener by Ronin Valentina. (In an effort to reduce the amount of images on this thread and to simplify my life, links and images of the selected maps are located here in our club map thread. Club members are encouraged to bring their own armies from home or may use my extra figures from additional Rise of the Valkyrie sets. Eight club members plus Captain Canuck and myself participated in the battles. Here are the armies that were selected this afternoon: Captain Canuck

Hotshot begins his attack on Mr. Blue's troops. Captain Canuck and Redman discuss the Phantom Knights' special powers. Krug12 can't believe the overwhelming enormosity of Firestar's Jotun. Fireheart and RedRobbin size one another's armies up across their battlefield. Legoboy's Master of the Hunt rains Mortal Strikes down on Iceworshipper's Grimnak and Ne-Gok-Sa. Jotun surveys the carnage after felling the last of Krug12's Airborne Elite and thusly bringing victory to Firestar. RedRobbin's SotM Drake assaults his less powerful doppleganger while being backed up by a pair of his new Roman Legionnaires. Redman's Ne-Gok-Sa ponders over what to do about a pair of Canuck's knights. Ne-Gok-Sa and Agent Carr struggle for control of Knophree Pass. Legoboy (and his new shirt) rolls defense for one of his Warmongers. Results and new rankings will be posted below. Last edited by legoboy : January 4th, 2011 at 10:25 PM. |

Re: Legoboy's 5th Grade HeroScape Club
Wow! That was really cool. Especially with the new figures (like Jotun, Major Q10, Roman Leigonnaires etc.) and the new maps you brought.
Can't wait to see what happens next week. |
