The entire point was that he traps people into fighting him, getting himself killed and then coming back stronger. If you have a suggestion for another way of doing that, great. Combat Challenge is just thematically perfect in name and mechanics, though.

I could definitely work up something to fit that theme. But really, he doesn't trap other people into fighting him so that he gets stronger, he didn't even know that happened to him till the Viltrumites beat him to death. He challenged the champions of planets to test their strength and see if they would be strong enough to defeat a Viltrumite. I was thinking I'd go with something more like what we gave Hercules for his Challenge power.

I said that's how the design is supposed to work. I know what happens; I've read them all. The powers just complimented each other very well, and was thematic. He doesn't have to know they compliment each other, or he'll come back, but that's how I designed it.

I think tying something into the Champion class which I think Invincible is gonna end up with would be really cool. He challenges the Champions from each planet, not just any joe-schmo. So if you do not want to design him without Combat Challenge, I will be drafting him.

That was a cool idea, yeah, but I didn't want him to be niche. Maybe a bonus against Champions, but not only champions.
If you really want him, then just say so. But we are in the Public Design thread for a reason, to discuss public designs... I'm willing to work around it, I just don't understand why it wouldn't work.
But just tell me if you want it, I'm not going to be heartbroken, and I couldn't stop you anyway.

I'll take Allen. I'd rather see you work on your Angstrom Levy design and I don't want to wait that long for Allen. You have a good design for a character that's though to translate to HeroScape, he just needs a little fine tuning.

Choose a figure to attack. Any figures adjacent to the chosen figure are also affected by this special attack. Figures affected by this special attack roll 1 fewer defense dice for the remainder of this turn. Roll 2 attack dice once for all affected figures. Each figure rolls defense dice separately. Hobgoblin can be affected by his own Gas Pumpkin Special Attack. After using this special attack, Hobgoblin may move up to 3 spaces and attack with his normal attack.

Things worth discussing, I think:

1) Criminal, Crime Lord, or Mastermind? I'm leaning toward the last, as I think it covers him more widely: he's been all three, but is generally the sort to plot and plan. In Spider-Girl he instigated a gigantic mob war out of spite... so he's got backup.

2) Criminal Delegation, or re-use Goblin Glider? I can see reasons for both, but I'm leaning toward Glider, if only because he is often a one-man show character and SHOULD be draftable without criminal underlings.

3) How he should compare to Green Goblin. He's pretty much "better" across the board. Smarter, stronger, faster, not insane... I could see him in the 250+ range.

I'd also like to simplify Gas Pumpkin a bit, though I'm not entirely certain how. Maybe trimming the explosion aspect: make it so all figures roll less defense, but only one actually defends?

I don't know much about the character, but here we are. I like more Crime Lords, but I can see Mastermind, thought Mastermind still does have many criminal synergies.

I'd like to see Goblin Glider reused. He's pretty much the only other person who would have it, plus there are better choices for a Criminal Delegation power (Love the name!)

How about for Gas Pumpkin, we make it a special ability like Paralyzing Stare, and then keep Vector Shot and tweak it? Maybe allow it to be a radial attack somehow without being a special attack, just for something different?

"More powerful" is a relative term. I'd say that the Green Goblin is more powerful than Spider-Man. In raw physical strength he's probably on par with Spidey, but he's definitely smarter and more ruthless. His tech is probably even with Spidey's extra powers... I'd say they're close, but you could justify his being cheaper or more expensive a bit.

He's definitely "better" than Green Goblin, though, in raw abilities. Personally I'd like to see him priced higher, I think.

By the way, the theme for Vector Shot is this:

A "trademark" of this armor, and an 'improvement' over the Green Goblin's armor, is built into the finger-blasters; the computerized system cybernetically causes the blasters to randomly vary their attack vectors when trained on a particular target, with the end result being a stream of firepower that even Spider-Man has had trouble dodging.

So that's how I interpretted it - lots of attacks, but none of them too powerful.

Anyways toying with this for Gas Pumpkin. Flimsy wording, but hopefully it makes sense:

GAS PUMPKIN SPECIAL ATTACK
Range 4. Attack 2.

From your explanation of vector shot, would something like War Machine's chain gun be better?
