Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
It looks good on paper, but I don't know if it would work. Seems too fussy with OM's and Kurrok wouldn't be as mobile. It could be fun on small maps with not too may LOS blockers.

Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
I'd dearly love to see a "sweet spot" article in the strategy section that calculates just how many mini-elementals are needed to justify Kurrok's draft without diminishing returns. Without that information, I'm going to test drive the following draft:
E Harmony: Kurrok - 120 Waterx2 - 60 Firex2 - 70 Airx2 - 60 Earthx2 - 60 Greater Ice E - 130 So many army cards but really only Kurrok will see any OM action. He's holding that staff aloft for a reason, folks. Head your hobgoblin for high ground to secure LOS and boost defense for longevity. I could spend a few sentences analyzing which three elementals to send "out of the gate," which to save for the "hump" and which to save for endgame but when the purpose of the army is to provide maximum contingency, strategic soap boxes seem perfunctory. As predicted, the jumbo icy drink hangs back for a late game winter wonderland (with apologies to any ground hogs). This motley crew won't win any beauty contests but every metagame needs a weenie blitzkrieg. BANJO WILL GET YOU THROUGH THE TIMES WITH NO MONEY. MONEY CAN'T GET YOU THROUGH THE TIMES WITH NO BANJO. |

Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
Earth Wind and Fire
Kurrock 120 2xEE 70 2xFE 70 2xAE 60 Q9 180 The Air Elementals can help keep Q9 out of melee and deal with incoming fliers. The Earth Elementals are useful as terrain and glyph holders. The Fire Elementals provide a hot reception for defending the firebase. Kurrock is a target your opponent has to evaluate because while he's powerful, he's not crucial to the army. If he survives the destruction of Q9 and several of his Elementals he can always try to bring some back for the endgame. ~Aldin, back to the 70s |

Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
Going off of Aldin's idea:
Kurrok 120 FE x6 330 Q9 510 I like how Q9 really takes some of the heat (no pun intended) off of Kurrok. As others have said, a 120 pt Kurrok means he doesn't have to be the only component of an army. Another similar option: Kurrok FE x6 Krav Raelin This one helps the FE deal with range, plus Raelin can help both Krav and Kurrok. Definitely one I'm going to try. |

Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
At 600 pts I'll be trying out this army:
Kurrock (120) FE x3 (105) WE x3 (90) AE x2 (60) Nilfhiem (185) 595/600 points. With Nilf in the mix Kurrock wont be the only one with a target on his back and OM management will be relaxed. Given that I have yet to proxy anything its all Theoryscape but I'd have the FE out front with Nilf with a AE in front of the WE who will work as range support and the other AE with Kurrock just incase. No matter which OM (NIlf or Kurrock) you can get up to 3 attacks per turn. I wasnt sure if point values other than 500 were welcomed here so I do apologize in advance if this was misplaced. |

Q: Is Kurok going to be allowed for Gencon? Any more 510 point army ideas?

Re: Kurrok the Elementalist - Whats your army idea
Kurrok (120)
Air * 3 (90) Earth * 2 (70) Gwyn (20) Syvarris (100) Anna (100) 500 - 9 Kurrok uses his buddies to block incoming melee. The Air stops them, while the Earth tunnels into the clumped figures and smacks them down. Syvarris, backed up by his two lady friends, can out range most armies. The downside: this army takes at least 5 OMs to set up. Oh, and watch out for Cyprien. |
