Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010 (Results Posted)
What: 3rd Tracktown Throwdown
Where: Grace Community Fellowship, 989 Country Club Rd. Map When: Saturday, May 29th at 10:30. Games start at 11:00. Why: To have loads of fun, again Gameplay Details: Quote:
Each player will draw a glyph randomly before unit placement and place it face up on one of the predetermined glyph spots. The first game of the day, ALL maps will have treasure glyphs. (Heroic Rune, Talisman of Defense, Potion of Healing, Elixir of Speed, Ring of Protection, Whetstone of Venom). If you end the first game in possession of a treasure glyph (win or lose) you get to keep it for the rest of the tourney (or until someone takes it from you). I'm going to limit the treasure glyphs carried between games to one per hero. In addition, glyphs are bonded to the hero that picked them up. They may not be dropped unless the hero carrying them is killed. To clarify: 1. First game of the day, pick up treasure glyphs. If you finish the game with both in your possession (Finn holds the Heroic Rune and Glyph of Defense) and you only have one hero, you may only take that one glyph to the next game. If you have two heroes, you may take both. 2. Second and all subsequent games, assign one glyph to each of your heroes. You may amass glyphs from fallen enemies as normal. When you advance to the next game, however, you may still only take one glyph per hero. The rest of the day the pool will be: Astrid, Gerda, Lodin, Kelda, Valda, Dagmar, Crevcor, Ulaniva Scoring: Swiss style. 5 rounds. 3 points for a win, 2 points for a game that goes to time, and 1 point for a loss. With point differential to determine ties. After using the tournament director program to run the last tourney and coming up with some undesirable matchups, I've decided to go back to old-school pen and paper like the first tourney. Entry Fee: Bring a game or heroscape pack for the prize table. Prizes (from awesome donors! check out their sites!): - $10 Gift Certificate from Eugene Toy & Hobby - $10 Gift Certificate from Eugene Toy & Hobby - $10 Gift Certificate from Eugene Toy & Hobby - $25 Gift Certificate from House Mouse - $20 Gift Certificate from Miniature Market - $15 Gift Certificate from Miniature Market - $10 Gift Certificate from Miniature Market Plus whatever everyone brings. This is going to be sweet! I don't foresee any conflicts with the date.

Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
Awesome. A couple friends of mine will be there, and if nadom brings his friends we'll practically have enough for a tournament already.
Couple things I was thinking about: 1. Instead of a straight point value I was thinking of having a pool of 750-1000 points that you bring and choose from every game. I think that would be a lot of fun, but we'd have to have some organized way of choosing your army (maybe psuedo-drafting). 2. Marvel. I don't really think its such a big deal anymore, but I'm still hesitant to include it. I could go either way, I guess. 3. Maybe Rolling Rumble instead of Swiss style. I like that you might be able to play more games. But then there's no spectating between matches...that's kind of a bummer. 4. I want to have treasure glyphs but I only have one BftU. I do have a bunch from wave 1, though. I might just end up using my normal glyphs as treasure glyphs. Last edited by yagyuninja : May 5th, 2010 at 02:20 AM. |

Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
Cool, MegadeV, we probably will.
Bahde, good to hear you and your son can come. Also, I just got notice that we're good for the date and time at the church. That's good, 'cause it's such a nice and open space. I've thought some more about it and decided we should probably leave marvel out. Nothing against them but I like having data after the tourney that's easy to compare to others. As for maps, I've got a couple I want to do, and they are plenty for the numbers signed up right now. If we get more (last two times there ended up being 20 players) I'll probably have to call in a little terrain support. Here are my thoughts: Underground Iceways Can't See the Jungle Elswin Plateau Sidewinder Ticalla Sunrise Badru Valley That's enough for now. As for more to add as more people sign up I thought maybe Vesuvian, Dvalin's Furnace, and Fossil would work. Maybe instead of Dvalin or Vesuvian we could have Fire Isles. I'm a little leery of Hot Heights and Ember Canyon road, but if you know of any other good lava maps feel free to make a suggestion. Now I just need to work out which maps will have treasure and which will have normal glyphs. I don't think Elswin Plateau, Ticalla Sunrise, or Badru Valley would do well with that kind of tinkering, so they're out. I'll think about the others. Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
OK, here's what we're going to do with treasure glyphs. The first game of the day, ALL maps will have treasure glyphs. The kicker is that if you end the first game in possession of a treasure glyph (win or lose) you get to keep it for the rest of the tourney (or until someone takes it from you
Also, I'm going to add two more maps I built (and fire isles) to the map pool. I have a third that I made from scraps, but I don't think it's big/interesting enough to work. In Seek And Destroy (1 SotM, 1 FotA) ![]() ![]() Battery (1 RotV) Questionable Jump in the Fire (1 Marvel, 1 Lava, 1 Castle) ![]() or maybe... Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
Count me in as well some of my crew is also coming ROADRAGE + 3 for now.
I like your idea of the treasure glyphs that should make them a bigger target in the opening round. I've been trying to figure out how to make them better in our gaming group, nice to hear of another twist. Shoot me a pm if you need more terrain we have a lot. |

Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
Awesome! Good to have some new blood coming in.
Also, just to be clear, everything in the first post is official. I've decided NOT to to rolling rumble or have a sideboard. I've got to get back in the tourney groove and then maybe I'll throw a funky one sooner rather than later. |

Re: Eugene OR Tournament - May 29th, 2010
OK, I added one last map. That uses all of my terrain and covers 22 people. I'll probably have a friend bring one more map just in case, and maybe ask another to have terrain available if we need it.
It's getting close... |
