Question about Jungle Trees

Okay, I have picked up a bunch of Games Workshop Jungle Trees and I'm prepping them for Gameplay. My only problem is what base should I attach them too? Looking at the trees that come with the road and bridge set, the base seems thin like a water tile, But the jungle tree pack look like normal 1 space hexs. Now doing them on water tiles painted green could be the cheaper way to go, or do I do them like the other jungle trees? The same question is also applied to the jungle bushes.

I could use your alls imput and advice on this one. I want to make thes nice and useible, not just semi-crappy that can only be used at home. Thanks All!

One of the main reasons the Jungle Trees are on actual bases is that the are very top heavy. Without the interlock, they are VERY prone to falling over.

Re: Question about Jungle Trees

If I'm reading this correctly, you purchased some plastic trees, and want to make them into custom HS terrain?

I would recommend hot-gluing them to actual tiles and adding flock.

Re: Question about Jungle Trees

This is how I have done it in the past...The one on the far left is the custom...

Personally I don't like flocking on my customs, nothing else in Heroscape is fuzzy...To me it is contrasting on the map...It makes me want to flock everything to match... So instead I like my customs to be ALL plastic...For this I use apoxie sculpt to match the style of the official pieces....

And Cav makes a great point about the top heavy aspect of basing the Jtrees on actual hexs...It's funny, I said something about the exact same thing in the last tut post in mine own customs thread.... Great minds Cav..

Re: Question about Jungle Trees

If you want to be REALLY sturdy, physically attach them to the standard hexes, i.e. drill and melting. Auggie's is a great site to find extra single tiles.

Re: Question about Jungle Trees

Thanks All for the imput. I Like how the nonflocked looks, Plus using a little "Green stuff" on the base will secure it as well as prettifiy it some.

As for Auggie's, I'm Loving it and waiting till I have cashy money to spend, but until then I've been trying to trade warhammer stuff to gain those lil 1 hex buggers to build on. Also, being that they are "Jungle trees" does that mean a swamp hex should be the color for the base or should it be just green?

Thanks Again!

Re: Question about Jungle Trees

Or you could mount them on to cardboard bases, add some real rocks to weight them down and just place them where you need them. As mentioned the jungle trees are too tall and tip over easily but forest trees (like the HO scale kind you find in hobby stores) work really well on my bases.
