Sujoah, you're right. Clear sight just means being able to see any part of the figure's sculpt, line of sight requires being able to see a part of their hit zone.

Correct. Attacks and powers that need "clear sight" can get Estivara through her Cloud. Attacks and powers that need "line-of-sight" (which includes all normal attacks) cannot, unless they are adjacent.

Sparkle, can you add this to Rulings and Clarifications? It gets asked a lot.

Re: The Book of Estivara

Why doesn't Estivara's card simply say, "If you roll a 16 or higher, Estivara can only be attacked by an adjacent figure until revealing your next order marker and as long as she remains on this space."? I had assumed that you couldn't attack her at all if she succeeded (including with adjacent figures), but the consensus seems to indicate what I have written above.

Because there are some attacks, like Mimrings Fire Line and Shotgun Blast that don't require line of sight, just clear sight. Estivava is still vulnerable to those attacks.

Well stated! Estivara's ability is representative of the innate drow power to surround themselves in a globe of magical darkness. This works well against an agent firing a gun, but would conversely be useless against a fire-breathing dragon who simply has to aim in a straight line.

Re: The Book of Estivara

Okay, I just played a 4-player team battle of Heroscape. I drafted Estivara in my army, and I was thoroughly impressed with her ability. It took a little luck to land that first hit with only 3 ATK (especially if the defender has 6 DEF) but not once, not twice, but three times. Estivara has inflicted one wound and continually successfully rolled to inflict venom damage on Fen Hydra, Tornak, and Nerak the Glacial Swog Rider until they were dead! I will definately be making room in my army for her in the future. Also, her Cloud of Darkness kept her protected from an angry Syvarris that was looking for retribution.

Re: The Book of Estivara

Taken, literally, the "Cloud of Darkness" power says revealing another order marker ends that ability (ie regardless of whether you reveal it on Estivara or someone else).

For example, if I have OM 1 on Estivara, take a turn with her, and roll a 16+ she has no visible hit zones. But if OM 2 is on the spiders Estivara is vulernable again. This what the card literally means.

Is everyone playing it that way? Was this the designers' intention?

Re: The Book of Estivara

I have estivara in my army because she is a relatively cheap ranged special attacker to use against my friends sgt. drake. and with 3attk versus 3 or 4 defense (depending on which version of drake) she gets her poison rolls a lot.

feedback on my customs is always welcome. MKV93's Customs

Over in the Question Dump thread, has confirmed that DW9K and the Shotgun Bros. Special Attacks do indeed need line-of-sight to a figure's hit zone, so they would not be able to attack Estivara while in her Cloud.

Re: The Book of Estivara

So far, the only arachnids(that come to mind at least) are the Fyorlag spiders. Estivara has a power that boosts arachnids. Here's what I see the options as being:

1. Estivara will be like Spartacus, with hardly anything to boost, and then will get a boost later.

2. Ticalla Jungle will be re-released soon, giving new players the opportunity to get some Fyorlags for Estivara.

3. The most exciting option to me. Has anyone ELSE pondered the possibility that the Master of the Hunt will BE a spider?
