DFW - 3rd Annual Richardson Open

Hey guys

Figured I'd go ahead and get this thread going for the next DFW Tournament: The 3rd Annual Richardson Open.

As was the case last year, the event will be held in my backyard (unless we get too many people showing up, at which point we will relocate). We will have a BBQ before the actual tournament. If you want to join in on the BBQ, simply sign up on the list below and bring along a food item (chips, sodas, etc).

Details

Where: My home in Richardson - PM for the address please (unless we get more than 20 people in which case we will look into possibly Madness in Plano).

When: Sunday May 16th. BBQ to start at 11:30, games start around 1:00.

Entry Fee: $10

Prizes: The winners will get gift certificates to anywhere in the US (Money). First place will get 50% of the pot, second 35%, Third 15%.

Army Construction:
- Points limit: 480
- Starting spaces: 24 hexes
- No Marvel
- Restricted: Each army can only have one card which is on the restricted list below (you can have multiples of the same common). Example: An army can have Raelin, but then you can't have Krav, or rats, etc. If you have Major Q9, you can't have Stingers, etc.

I can't make the 1st. The sooner we get a date figured out, the sooner I can block it off my calender, otherwise my availability will continue to narrow down. At this point the 15th is looking pretty solid.

Yeah, it looks like the 15th is the only day that everyone responding so far can make it. Hopefully, that date will work for the rest of the crew. Otherwise, we have to start deciding who we don't want to have at the event

I'd like it to be close to the 1st or after the 15th because thats near payday. I'd rather not do the 29th because my sister is graduating High School on the 30th. And I might participate in the BBQ but we'll have to see how it goes as we get closer.

Why put one half of the Blast/Glad combo on the restricted list, but not the other?

Good catch. I'll add them to the list. People will be able to use them with Charos, Mimring, and the D&D dragon, just not the A grade dragons.

Well, if I put both on the list, that would essentially ban those units (since you wouldn't use one without the other). Right now, you can play Glads/Blasts, but you can't have Raelin (which is a key element of the army IMO). Do people want that army completely banned? I'm open to debating any units on or off the restricted list.

As far as the filler units, do you really want to see Isamu and Marcu more? Part of the reason for banning them is to see some of the old fillers more (Guilty, Ontonashi, etc) and to get people to think about their build a little more. If you are 30 or 40 points short, you might play around with the build a bit more to optimize is as opposed to just fill it in with Marcu and Isamu.

I vote for Isamu off the list, because if you have someone else who's on the list who is not expendable and you have 10pts left, your stuck with Otonashi. And Otonashi sucks.
