Marvelscape Terrain Idea
I was doing some Christmas shopping today and had what might be a good idea for some Marvelscape custom terrain. I was in the toy section looking at those mini skateboards after seeing my cousins' youngest kid playing with one at Thanksgiving. They have some pretty neat city based ramps, stairways, railings, etc. as playsets. While looking at them I thought a couple of them would make a pretty good basis for a cool custom Marvel heroscape terrain board for someone who had the ambition and desire to convert one of them. I don't think I would buy one brand new just to convert but they might be popping up at garage sales in the near future for dirt cheap.
Anyways here is a link so you can see what I'm talking about. http://www.toypeak.com/index.php?cPa...FQYMDQoduG_glw The Hubba Hideout and Brooklyn Banks ones in the link above. I know there are more of them out there that might work, but I'm not havign much luck finding pics of them online. Just see what you can find in the toy section the next time you are out if interested. While searching around for pics I came across this website that sells some neat pallets that could be cool for use with Marvelscape. Not sure if the size would match up well though. http://shop.blackriver-ramps.com/cat...products_id=36 If anyone ever makes use of this idea, make sure you post some pics so we can see how it turns out. ![]() I suppose I could stab it. Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
I thought about some of those skateboard, er, fingerboard pieces. They seem like they could work well if done right.
The pallets look cool, but they are a bit large. 4.7 x 3.5 inches is a big pallet. Typical pallets are about 48 x 42 inches (I can't remember the short side for certain, but they are typically 48 inches on the long side). The figures are usually around an inch and a quarter tall, so that would be a big pallet if scaled up. Around 15ish by 18ish feet. It would be good for big industrial equipment skids. Maybe put some motor or something on there and put it in a warehouse map. For a typical stack of pallets I think about something roughly an inch square would look good. |

Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
Just came across another Marvel themed terrain idea. This item was in the clearence toy section for just $8 so I grabbed one thinking I could make use of it.
![]() It is part of a 'reel rides' collection in which they remade scenes from classic movies. The one above is suppose to be from the movie, the Usual Suspects. They also had another one from the movie Rain Man where they were standing in front of a hotel. Now that I have taken it out of the package and made sure it would work I think I will pick that one up too if it is still there next time I go to that Walmart. Here is a pic of it out of the box. ![]() This is a concept pic in which I used the swamp tiles to lay out where I want to add some hexes. Also put Captian America and Spidey in to show how they match up size wise to the firuges already included. The included figures are just slightly taller then the superheros but once I add some hexes, when a superhero is standing on one of them they should be the about the same height. I should be able to start working on this project this week. I'll post the finished product in my custom thread once it's done. ![]() I suppose I could stab it. Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
It looks pretty good. Are the figures attached to the building?

Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
Thie figures have their own foot holes so it looks like I can remove them if I break off a tab on the bottom. I just havn't tried to yet. I actually don't mind the figures in this one being left on it but it I pick up the Rain man one, I will be removing those figures.

Awesome find, Yodaking. It appears as though there are actually a bunch of different versions of these.

Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
Yeah, while looking around online I managed to find 2 different Grease themed ones and a Robocop one. The Robocop one looks like it was sold a while ago as I only found it on an Ebay auction. It looked pretty cool though. Anyway pics of the finished product are up in my custom terrain thread. Still have not been back to Walmart to get the Rainman one but when I do I'll let you guys know how that turns out.

Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
So here is what the Rainman themed one I picked up looked like before I did anything to it.
![]() It turns out that I could not remove the figures just by popping off the tabs on the bottom like I thought I could. So I ended up just pulling the figures out using a pair of pliers. They came out pretty easily that way, and were fully capable of being returned to their positions if needed. Anyways, after I pulled them out, I mapped out a potential layout using some tiles. ![]() I then build a frame and some hexes from wood, just like I did with the airport. I also made a little plant for this one to fill in some empty space. Here is the finished product in a board with some figures. ![]() Here is the airport in case you never saw it. ![]() And here is a board featuring the airport and hotel together. ![]() ![]() I suppose I could stab it. Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
I also just picked up a new item I am going to try and convert into some Marvel themed terrain. It is a small fingerboard toy set that I found on sale at Walmart. Here it is.
![]() As you can see the emergency blockade/saw horse is too big straight out of the box. If you look closely you can see the lines I drew on the legs where I plan on cutting it down to size. Once the legs are trimmed it will match up quite well. The set of stairs on the other hand, are a perfect 5 tiles high, with each step approximentally 1 hex higher then the next. The steps are just not wide enough for a heroscape base to sit on. I am going to try to drill/cut out some slots in the face of each step so that a heroscape base can slide in and be held firm on each step, similar to how the ladders from the castle set work. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. ![]() I suppose I could stab it. Would stabbing it help? - Drax the Destroyer |

Re: Marvelscape Terrain Idea
A Dremel with a cutting wheel and a steady hand should work really well.
