I think I have to do something with Fang. I just rolled out a few fights between Hulk and Fang, and Fang won every time. 2 Attacks of 6 is brutal. Automatic shield every defense and healing a wound every turn got a bit ridiculous. I think his attack needs to be around 4. I will try that out next.

Four attack for a melee hero with Double Attack is fair- compared to the Einar Imperium (the only other melee figures with Double Attack, IIRC) you're getting more of a punch per attack, but only a fraction of the total attacks. You don't fly, but you have healing/teleportation and automatic shield. 150, perhaps?
In regards to the auto-shields, I might change it to only 1 shield against squads, and none against heroes. I mean, with 4 defense, how many squad figures are going to breach 2 automatic shields? Compare that to the castle door. I might adjust it to all small/medium figures, or one automatic shield against squads. Your call. Funny, I haven't actually posted in the main forum for a while. Shame; I really need to get back into 'Scape. |

Krug also has Double Attack, but he is a little different. His wounder smash can get sick, but, he is much more fragile then Fang.
As for the 2 automatic shields against squads, that is kind of the point... It is supposed to take a hero to take Fang down. But, 2 auto shields and a defense of 4 pretty much makes him impervious to squads, eh? MAybe just a straight 1 auto shield against all attacks? So, what I am looking at now is: Life: 5 Move: 6 Range: 1 Attack: 4 Defense: 4 Points: 160 Powered by vitae Double Attack Flesh of the Marble (1 automatic shield against all attacks) (With these stats, Migol was 50/50 win ratio against Fang. I costed Fang higher though due to his survivability against other things) |

Nice stuff! I like the paint job on Gorak. I don't have the touch to do detail painting like that.
The Constriction ability on the Black Steel Minions is a nice ability - takes engagement up a notch - and it fits the character of the squad. |

The "Fueled by Vitae" power is activated and resolved prior to taking the actual turn. So, Fang could either move or heal, and then take the regular turn. It is based off vampires in the World of Darkness being able to spend vitae (blood) in order to use their powers. All vampires can use vitae to heal wounds, and then the individual vampires have special powers. Fang is a super fast vampire with the power of Celerity, so I wanted a way for him to get some extra movement in addition to the extra attack. Worst case scenario I think he Fang is engaged with his target, no wounds, and not able to get onto higher ground with his movement. In that scenerio, he won't be using "Fueled by Vitae". Jonathon was more fun to make due to him not being as straight forward as Fang. Fang is the kind of unit that you wind up, point in a direction and let him go and watch the slaughter. Jonathon is a much for finesse unit. He almost wants to be a cheerleader and just sit on a shadow tile and let his Black Steel do all the work, but his stats are pretty solid, so he wants to mix it up. |

Thanks! Does anyone one else play MtG? Those that do, how do you feel the flavor of the army card matches with the themes of the Plainswalker and the Color?
Even those who don't play MtG, what do you think of the unit, in a vacuum? Are powers and stats balanced? What about the cost? |

I haven't ever played Magic but as far as HS figs go these are very intriguing!
The Loyalty ability is a great way to utilize Order Markers and from your description of Magic's use of it, it is very thematic as well. The only thing that kind of doesn't feel quite right is that each ability is different but they are all called the same thing- this could get confusing. I have no alternatives to offer, just that observation. And I think you are right when you state that they are undercosted. The Loyalty abilities on some of them are real killers. I would say some of them would start around 180 (take that with a grain of salt- I'm not real good at costing figures myself). Anyhow, I really like them. The Loyalty ability(ies) seems very unique to me. |
