Wink Tile Usage

We only have a limited number of Heroscape tiles. That's a fact. If you are planning on building a battlefield using all of your terrain, what are some strategies you use for making the use of your terrain as efficient as possible? For example, instead of stacking water tiles to make a waterfall, do you use an overhang? sorry if another Heroscaper previously posted this, but if so I couldn't find it.

I've got a large knife!

Re: Tile Usage

Leave empty voids below your terrain. For example, under a 24-hex tile there doesnt have to be 24 hexes. You could leave many spaces empty under there to conserve tiles because a 24-hex tile only needs the 3 corners supported, which is like 5 or 6 tiles used instead of 24.

Also, build out first, and THEN up. Never build up and then out. When you have a very limited amount of tiles, like me, doing that gets you into trouble.

Re: Tile Usage

You may also find browsing the download section for single Master Set maps useful.

~Aldin, who has a fairly small table upon which to leave his maps

Re: Tile Usage

Good question, voids underneath your tiles are best.

But assuming you haven't been playing for long, let me mention that large maps slow down the game a lot. I've become a BoV map man, small, tight maps with just enough room to run.

Re: Tile Usage

Yeah, I say just check out the BOV display thread.

Turret Rocks even kind of has a waterfall.

Those maps have been tested to be fun and balanced, and use tiles judiciously as well.
