RESULTS FIRST POST - KC Hextreme Team Mayhem - July 11, 2009

Hawkins and I want to give a HUGE THANKS to everyone that was involved with yesterdays tournament!!!! We had a blast!!!! We look forward to comming down again sometime. I've only been playing HS since June and this was Hawkin's first time out so we actually learned quite a bit Saturday. THANKS again!!!!

We had a good time, too. Very fun games, and fun to put faces with names.

There were a couple of dwarf armies and I think we confirmed that they are tournament ready. We also confirmed that they'll lose to knights, but I think we knew that already. (But who knew it would be so spectacular!)

I look forward to reading the battle reports. (I'll let Matthias do ours, and add corrections after he's done.)

I know I ask this every time, but what's the gist of the SOS and Ranking points again?

SOS is the combined number of wins of those you played against. So those matched up with teams who win most of their matches, will be given a higher SOS then those matched up against 'not so great' teams.

Ranking points is the total amount of points you killed in the games that you lost.


So ranking goes by win/loss ratio, then separated by quality of the teams you were matched against, and finally to damage done to opponents on those losses.

So looking at that chart i can see that the 11 SOS teams probably played the hardest people in the tournament (Congrats to Matthias/Fomox, Tog/Kahrma, John/David H.) because they have a 11 SOS score. Meaning they fought an overall higher ranked team throughout the entire tournament.

SOS doesn't really mean a team is better/worse though, those who have a lower SOS (8+) could really have gotten this entirely by playing 0-4,1-3 teams on the first random match-up.

So really one of the biggest factors isn't your win/loss but what type of team you lose to with this scoring system.

So while someone like Deadeye who got 4th by 20pts ranking, still would have been stuck at 4th with a lower SOS then the 3rd team.

This is the first that I've been near a computer since the tourney so, I just wanted to thank TOG and the KC HeroScapers for another great one. I had a blast getting kicked around all day.
