Do any of you use Chardris?

He seems somewhat worthless and he could be taken down way too easily,
Or do you use Kato Katsuro? He seems even more worthless.

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

Both units in question are pretty situational. You can't just tack them on to any old army build and expect them to pull their weight. You need to build an army with those figures in mind from the start to capitalize on their benefits and limit their negative qualities. So, when I'm playing Elves, I use Chardris often. When I'm playing with lots of Ashigaru, then Kato is there.

EDIT : Also, "Chandris" sounds like a fabric softener.

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

Welcome to the site! What CheddarLimbo said is true, including the part about it being Chardris, not Chandris. Also, this should go in the General Heroscape Discussion subforum, not the General subforum. This does have to do with Heroscape, doesn't it?

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

Chardris + Jordawnn (sp?) are awesome if played carefully in an all elf party. Jordawn's Range 7, 4 Attack AoE and Chardris's 6 Range 5 Attack, both coming in the same turn can burn down enemies quickly.

There are of course, several counter armies to the elf, but they are a good army in many situations.

The first option sounds like you are asking if we use the two of them in the same army. I use Kato more than I use Chardris.

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

I use Chardris

Anyways, I use both. Kato with an Ashigaru/Samurai army, Chardris with an elf army. I like both as they are competitive (I think?) themed armies, and all my armies must be themed, or I flip out.
(What? Whats that robot doing in this army of all elves? IT MAKES NO SENSE!)

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

I use Chardris rarely, and Kato even less. Kato is too expensive, and there's many more units that are less expensive, and better. Chardris is a bit hard to use with all the elf wizards needing to be around him for him to attack decently.

I use Chandris all the time. The clothes come out of the wash smelling like a meadow full of spring wild flowers.

I've played a bit with Chardris and Kato. They can be very effective units. Like has been said, you can't just add them to an army like an after thought. Put them in the right army (the map needs to be considered a bit more with Kato), and they pull their weight.

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

Whenever I try to make a Kato build (for a tourney) it seems I always need more points to spend.

In a home 750-1000 point game, you can definitely make a very good army that includes him. Not so much in tourneys where the point totals are usually 400-600, he eats away too many points to keep it competitive IMO.

Re: Do any of you use Chandris?

I like the Elven Wizards.... I'm in the minority, but I actually think they're pretty strong. I've done well with the 550 point version including Raelin.

I've only played with Kato / Ashigaru one time, but I beat an army that included Deathwalker 8000, which I felt was impressive. The sheer offensive firepower that army boasts is awesome to behold.
