Order markers, order markers, who's got the order markers?

The issue of order markers has been the cause of a great schism between me and my fellow local scapers. This all began when one of us received the Marvel expansion as a gift. You know where I'm going with this. Red Skull. Questions immediately arose: "Why can't we just play like this all the time; each person gets three turns per round, and can move whoever they would like?" My answer has always been, because it's in the rules. And where does the game truly exist, if not within the rules? My compatriots have read on this site that it's a common house rule to just play without having to strategically place the markers. How could a serious gamer do such a thing? Without the order markers, are we not just rolling dice with minimal cerebral exertion? I'd like to get some input on this.

My friends play like that but not because of marvel. however I am trying to convince them to play the real way.

I've done that before. But, only when I played with fairly small armies. Also, when me and my friend played with very large armies (Like 1500 points or something.) we did something special. We each had:

1 marker x2
2 marker x2
3 marker x2
x marker x3

Meaning, you went 6 times and had three markers to trick people with.

I can't imagine not playing with the OMs, but that's just me.
