Re: None Heroscape Stuff to bring to the table.

I personally find laser pointers a pain to use. I tried once, and haven't tried again.

But stuff to bring along? Obviously, all necessary rule books and the FAQ, and something to roll the dice in would be nice. Other than that, it's up to you really, depending on wheather you want paper for reminders or battle report notes, or whatever else you find helpful.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast"
Ephesians 2:8-9

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" Acts 16:31

I believe I've seen string suggested as an alternative to a laser pointer, and it makes a lot of sense to me. Hold one end on your unit's targeting point and try to make a straight line.

Cheaper, doesn't need batteries, and less finicky to find the targeting line, rather than trying to paint your target with a teeny little light dot.

Re: None Heroscape Stuff to bring to the table.

if you want to use the tactic of annoying your opponent to distraction you could bring...

nachos...make sure to get crumbs on the board and use your dirty fingers to move units around.

gum...chew it like a cow, everyone hates that.

laser pointer...those are annoying, especially if you use sound effects with it.

your girl friend...make sure she is the type who gets bored fast, talks alot, and is revealing plenty of cleavage.

cellphone... have your friends phone you often. have an annoying ring tone. like homer simpson saying "D'oH" repeatadly.

Nail Clippers...grow your nails long for this event, then when its not your turn clip away. Make sure you do your toe nails also. (chewing the nails and spitting them out can also be effective).

Halls cough candy...or any other hard candy. Rattle it around in your teeth.

Pop cans...just do that thing where you barely crack the seal so it doesnt look open but you can still suck/slurp it out with that annoying sound.

finally bring a mouth gaurd, cause its likely someone will punch you in the face. (and if they dont, its annoying to listen to someone wearing a mouth guard.

Re: None Heroscape Stuff to bring to the table.

The only I think missing from the original list is a dice box, shoe, tower, tray, what-have-you. I wish I had a nice Vixentor tower, but I do have simple dice tray I use. (Someday I'll have the cash for one of Imax's amazing beauties...)

Beyond that, my basics (aside for HS items) include a laser pointer and string (yeah, I bring both--I prefer a pointer, but a string is sometimes easier, though not usually with jungle maps), some kind of paper and pen (just in case) and a calculator.

And I've never gone to one a game without at least water and a sandwich or granola bar or something to snack on--but, hey, I'm a skinny guy and have to eat about every 2-3 hours...

A calculator becuase I'm too lazy to count when I draft, and an extra upside-down 7 hex to hold my various markers and dice.

Re: None Heroscape Stuff to bring to the table.

I had the distinct pleasure of playing against a guy who really and for truly brought this

out of his backpack to watch his dice and help them roll better.

~Aldin, wondering when the Rothinator will finallly sign up here like he keeps threatening to do

Re: None Heroscape Stuff to bring to the table.

I bring a 1/4 inch dowel rod for counting spaces etc. (refer to this thread for more details), and whatever I'm using to carry my figures and dice if those count too.

Enough with the rod, Richard. I was thinking of mentioning your 'Scape rod but you beat me to it. (No pun intended.)

I would bring my Rule Book Binder which has all of the official rule books, faq file, and scenarios... And my dice tower.

I really like the idea of the retractable ID bage string for determining line-of-sight. I first read about that in Richard's thread mentioned above.
